Flash, you are correct, if the stakes came from the stakes pot. But it was donated on those conditions. Now, if the Operators turned it down, this thread would be condemning them, surely?

And I note that not many are complaining about a R3 M race for 1 and 2 time winners, no grading or black type. The same applies to the CTS announcement, of a R10M race for their progeny, from their 2 sales.

The point is that these companies or people have put up the money and the conditions and that racing benefits.

That's why I like it.

As toontony has mentioned, runners were selected by drawing the names - so I suppose there are quite a few that has been holding back their stars for these races, who now is not so happy they waited - on the other hand the usual maiden races are still available, so they could not lose anything.

As to using this method to determine the runners in all maiden plates, I'm not so sure - imagine your horse runs 2nd in its debut and then gets eliminated in his next 5 starts and then gets in but draws 39 in a 40 horse field around the turn - imo the current selection method is fine (tu)

louis i ask question why no runner these year be cause i now you do well in past year all ways one or two runner in the race normal for little money is no criticism despite what easy think < louisg i think when i read what you write some time you now who i am from what you say. for me i can say with out the shadow of the doubt to own a horse is the most foolish thing you can do with your money. never again will i own the horse is much easier to buy the computerform and forget about the horse you chose when it ran bad or good. the story i here year after year about the champions in the stable that will win these race and that race is to much. is only pity i own these horse for 25 year be fore i learn my stupid. no my friend these game is for the stupids and me today im clever. all the best with that filly re but no for me (tu)

A suggestion for next year- how about two workriders races with a cap of 85 open to all horses with exactly the same method of nominating and selecting fields - Condition being that placed runners get 10% of stakes like jocks and obviously Maidens can get in too. That way the workriders can get the feeling of riding in a feature.
