"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon' Monday 10th March Workings...

Afternoon.

This afternoon completed, and went as follows.......

The 1st runner we wanted 3.2, and with being around 3.3 on arrival and then a non runner and 23.3% reduction, we now wanted a lay price of 2.69. The price went lower than that and we easily got around 2.54, so had a lay at around 2.54. There was then another withdrawal and further 7.1% reduction, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.57 to make the full lay back up. The price was there and so we were back on again. The lay looked in trouble a few times, but dug deep and got a battling win, so frustrating, but the way it goes. Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it......

The 2nd runner we wanted 2.1, but a non runner and 13.3% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 1.95. The price was around 2.4 on arrival, and never came down to us at any stage at all, so a race to avoid for all. The runner looked the winner, but then all went wrong and was beaten! So the drift justified in the end, and 'one that got away in hindsight'........

The 3rd runner we wanted 2.5, but a non runner and reduction of 4.7% meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.43. The price had drifted to around 2.76 on arrival and just got bigger and bigger, so race to racers had to avoid the race. The runner was well beaten, as the 'eventual' well backed favourite won it! so the drift beat race to racers to the punch. Grr! early traders happy though.........

The 4th runner we wanted 1.7, and with being around 1.94 on arrival, we never see our lay price at any stage at all, so all had to avoid the race. The runner was beaten by the outsider of the field after a battle, so surprise result, but another 'one that gets away in hindsight'.........

The 5th runner we wanted 2.0, and with drifting to around 2.06 on arrival and then dropping to us and beyond, we had a lay at 2.0 max. The lay was beaten, and so a good result.......

The 6th runner we wanted 1.36, and with being around 1.53 on arrival, and not coming down to us at all at any stage, we all had to avoid the race. The runner went and won, so a good leave this time........

The 7th runner we wanted 1.6, and with being around 1.9 on arrival and not coming down to us at any stage at all, we all had to avoid another race. The runner looked sure to win, but got tired late on as another outsider today came and took the spoils! so it was 'one that got away in hindsight'.........

The 8th runner we wanted 2.8, but a non runner and 3.8% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.73. There was then another non runner and further reduction of 12.2%, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.52. The price had drifted to around 2.64 on arrival and then dropped down to us again and slightly beyond, so we had a lay at 2.52 max. The lay departed the race when looking beaten, so hope he's OK, but a good result financially..........

The 9th runner we wanted 2.5, and with being around 2.58 on arrival, getting bigger, then dropping down to us and slightly beyond under late support, we had a lay at 2.5 max. The lay was beaten and so a good result.......

The 10th runner we wanted 3.3, and with being around 2.94 on arrival and getting shorter, we had a lay at 2.94 max. The lay went and won, so the way it goes. Traders got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it.......

The 11th runner we wanted 2.8, but a non runner and 7.1% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.67. The price had drifted alarmingly to around 5.0 on arrival and never came down anywhere near our lay price at any stage, so a race to avoid for all. The runner went and won quite well in the end, so a very nice priced winner, but more importantly a very good leave.........

The 12th runner we wanted 3.0, but a non runner and 10% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.8. There was then another non runner and further 14.3%, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.54. There was then yet another non runner and further 5% reduction, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.46. The price was a well supported 2.06 on arrival, so we had a lay at around 2.06. The lay was nicely beaten, and so a good result.......

The 13th runner we wanted 2.44, but a non runner and 5.3% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.36. The price had drifted to around 2.72 on arrival and although came tumbling back down, it never reached our lay price and not a penny was seen at it, so a race to avoid for all. The runner went and won quite well, so it was another good leave.........

The 14th runner we wanted 3.1, but a non runner and 3.6% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 3.02 (3.0 nearest exchange price). The price had drifted to around 3.85 on arrival and then tumbled back down to us and very slightly beyond, so we had a lay at 3.0 max. The price then went back the other way, and out to our own price of 3.3 (was 3.4 before reductions) and beyond, so a chance for traders (builders finished) to have a 'free' lay before the race. The lay/trade ran a poor race and was easily beaten, so a good result.......

The 15th and final runner we wanted 2.7, but a non runner and 5.9% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.6. The price was around 2.88 on arrival and then dropped down to us right near the off, so we had a lay at the rock bottom of the market and 2.6. The lay was nicely beaten and so a good result......

WELL PLAYED.............

'Rolling' strategy/target players (no 'free' lays for them) won 2.0 targets..........They started their 1st strategy/target on the 1st runner, and then either hit their targets on their 3rd (the 8th runner), or their 4th lay (the 9th runner, if getting worst prices)............They then started their 2nd strategy/target on the 10th runner, and after a little battle, they ended up winning a target on their 4th lay (the 15th runner), and so ended the day 2 targets up and well played...........

Bank builder strategy/target players had their 1st lay (the 1st runner) at a max of around 2.54, but a poor result see them go behind early........They then had their 2nd lay (the 5th runner) at 2.0 max, and a good result see them break level..............They then had their 3rd lay (the 8th runner) at around 2.52, and a good result see 4 runner builders hit their targets.........

5 runner builders needed a tiny bit more at the very worst, and they had their 4th lay (the 9th runner) at 2.5 max, and a good result see them hit their targets............

(I'm aware that a target was achievable on the 3rd lay with gaining slightly better prices, but the results mail to the average/worst scenario to cover all aspects of the day/session)

Traders won, or broke level on all their trades, so they played well and got the money, so good stuff...

So builders got the money and well played, as despite some strange results and drifts, it all came good in the end and that's what matters on such days. The weather played a big part and changed a few things, but as said, we played it well enough and got the money. Rollers won a couple of targets, so good stuff too guys. Have a good evening and speak in the morning......

That's what we have to work around for this afternoon then. A mixture of different race types and make ups, and although not easy (never is), we still have enough within our armoury to warrant going into battle, so that's what we'll do. Discipline to the maximum as always, and take advantage of any prices that come our way, and then we'll hope that value wins the session as it certainly does over a period of time. Good luck and speak soon.....
