Until Joe Racing Man can see the result of these 'surveys'. I will remain in doubt as to whether they exist.

As long as TT continues with their '2 presenters needed on track' idea, for me it is a no-brainer that someone like Jimmy Lithgow or Neil Pretorius should be one of the presenters - while the other one could be waffling on repeating what is there for all to see from the formlines, someone like Jimmy or Neil would be ideal to inform us about the parade-ring talk and especially on the way the horses look and go down to the start.

All the best in going forward, Jimmy (tu)

This is very sad for me. Jimmy deserves an award as acknowlegement for his many years of service to the Industry. I will talk to the boys and do something here at Vaal.
Yes, Jimmy was not everybody's cup of tea, but to me he was an inspirarion. His use of the English language is supreme and his knowlege of pedigrees second to none. Variety is the spice of life and Tellytrack just went and blew it !

Ultimately, Flash Harry is correct - the majority of viewers today are older. Sure, the biggest challenge facing the Industry, is getting new young people in, but if this is the "excuse" then please show me ONE current presenter who appeals to the young......

As for " the survey" , lets not bullshit each other - THERE WAS NO SURVEY DONE ! Or it was done "in house" to a select few whose only contribution in Racing is to have PAYE deducted from their mediocrely begotten gains.

Horseracing is much more than a numbers game, in terms of turnover. The Industry has two main advantages over other forms of Gaming. The first is the rich history of Racing, not only Worldwide, but also here in SA. The second is the majesty and beauty of the thoroughbred racehorse. Jimmy understands these and focusses on these two specifically, way ahead of any and all of the rest and he does it impeccably. This is his speciality and Tellytrack have just shafted a specialist, which they cannot replace.

I sometimes wonder if it is worth all of the efforts behind the scenes, on behalf of the beloved Industry, which seems to replace wanker with wanker in a position of power, over and over again.

As for Neil P and Andrew B, they are also top drawer and the mind boggles..... especially when confronted with their replacements.....

The only good to come out of this is that I never ever knew where the mute button on my remote was before.....

Would you care to elaborate on that Zoro cos I don't see any reason for hatred, they are very welcome to respond here if they so wish and clarify matters. We have, fair enough, only heard one side of the story and imho that paints TT in a pretty poor light, Mr Stuart in particular. If they hate ABC because they refuse to exercise their right to reply and clarify then I would say they are hating as an excuse to avoid being honest and dealing with the reality. Cowardice and arrogance are often words associated with such a stance, whether they be fair, true etc or not is not really the point. We all know the score, silence breeds suspicion and from suspicion will come criticism.

Not having a go at you Zoro but to be honest I am sick to death of this cloak of almost complete silence which shrouds all matters SA Racing, I have never known an industry seemingly so insular and so scared of talking. What conclusions do they expect us to come to???

Back to Jimmy. Agree with louisg, Jimmy is one of the few who speaks in a high std English, knows his breeding and corrects other people's mistakes whether stupid or just ignorant. Some hallmark criteria to fit the job descrption of a TT presenter.
In previous ABC postings I have said you were my fav.

Jimmy has forgotten more about racing and horses than the guys except for Molly who present on TT up here in Jhb. I feel the TT are starting to get it right in Kimberly (Gareth top boy) in PE ( both of them top class) and in Dbn and Cape Town very good...Jhb is the problem and I always wondered why they don't use Jimmy more???

Probably politics..company politics..I love Nico but honestly get some guys up here who know whats what..ex jocks like they got in PE and CT
