Tote vs Open Bet

Just to give a practical example for all those that blame the bookies for the convenience of the open bet :

I am going into hospital t'morrow for a simple procedure and will be in theatre before Saftote opens for betting so it will be necessary to take my bi-pots,PA's etc tonight.

Will Saftote be open to take those bets ..............no
Will Hollywood take them tonight ........................yes

Undoubtedly, to Saftote this makes good business sense but I'm just too dumb to figure it out!
