Just been told that some bookmakers are taking more in a single power ball result than they do in the July

That lucky numbers and sports betting takes up 80% of ticket sales

That lucky numbers and sports betting makes up 60% of turnover

That new licences have been agreed to up fruit machines from 5 to 15 per shop

Yes but not a surprise..................the sad thing is that I think that there are just a few issues that need to be sorted and it would give the product a chance of turning around!
A few of the clowns need replacing though!

100% correct - we knew this was coming - unfortunately the clowns will do nothing until its too late - changes need to happen now and fast

Stop taking punters for granted- treat them as you would wish to be treated. *the list sadly goes on and on*.. Eg- TAB facilities too international racing too not being transparent--- etc

I wonder if all those who have kept maintaining that the operators are managing the product in an acceptable manner and that their actions make good business sense, still honestly believe that ?
The manner in which they have handled their "get tough " strategy is an example of " clueless and incompetent "
How on earth did they not liaise with their partner ( multichoice) before going to war and there was no excuse for their lack of understanding of the bookmakers business model as they could have used Bettingworld for their "what if" analysis.
One of the best opportunities to improve income would be to extend their tote to including a fixed odds section , bearing in mind that it could be used for every other sport or activity, in addition to horse racing .

HIbernia, rights fees for screening SAF races in UK & betting on UK races screened here - turnover = overseas income everyone is referring to. This turnover, if you look back at the Phum figures, I'm sure, is small fry compared to UK turnover comparing apples to apples (racing, not sports betting).

Has the UK been successful with their endeavour through Attheraces and Qipco campaigns to make a marked difference in their racing interest and turnovers? Just wondering.

Don I wouldn't rely on that, Saf racing has been giving a wide berth in the UK shops now, most shops push it to the side with the virtuals

hell no, i'm not relying on it - I know UK racing has the same issues+ a couple extras than SAF racing, have their own waning of interest to deal with, even so with economies of scale on their side as well as spread of bookie shops.
But I think Phum is banking on it as a mainstay for prop up of local product turnover, or at least whilst they develop soccer/sports betting geographical reach?
Point is, on both continents, the product has to adapt to fit the 21st century consumer's interest.
