JAME G Show

Dear James,

Thank you for the show this week and the feedback regarding some of the mails/questions your show receives that are either mirdirected or misguided.

I would however like to raise a query once again thou as it seems to have just been swept under the carpet between your show & Graeme Hawkins. I wrote in some time back and you raised the question to Graeme Hawkins on the show and there seems to have been absolutely nothing done regarding the printing of the false rail setting at Greyville.

If the Comutaform is now the official race card why is the false rail setting not printed in the Computaform? In fact why is the false rail setting not communicated when the fields are finalised?

I don't know if this is of interest to other punters but i would really appreciate it if you could possibly get an answer to this that makes sense.

Would suggest watching tonight's racing and drawing conclusions off it. That's what I would do anyway....................now that the turf track has been narrowed there isn't to be any going back to false rail positions 13mts/ 17 mts out I would assume???

Have had to phone the course many times in the past with regards to False Rail postions, at the very least they printed the info in the Racecard. However for Arlington meetings one was always in the dark and had to phone the course for the info.

false rail information is just as,or even more important than knowing a horses draw...i remember being at greyville some years ago...and a certain trainer called BENNET BULANA...standing next to me...and i asked him "how well is your horse"...and he said to me ...."I have only the draw to beat"..the horse was coming off a 6 month break...it ws a 1000m race and this horse was drawn12/12....i told him that in this instance the 12/12 draw is the best possible advantage this horse has off winning..that day the false rail was 17m or so...as they came into the straight they just fanned out....and this horse won hard up against the stands rail...as he was about 3 wide but up there turning for home....so false rails are very important to the punter...and equally important to a jock, regarding placing a horse...instructions to jocks can differ ,regarding where the false rail is placed

Guys, use sahorseracing.co.za. I know on another thread some would rather use other sites and then just complain or nitpick as The Madji said because they is not updated as quickly as they would like . The false rail is up as soon as the final fields/times etc are ready which is about 14:30, 5 days before raceday. Go to provisional fields and it will be at the bottom of the page on even better go to card changes and get all the right up to date info. In the GC race card for the false rail position for the day is printed under either the jockeys or trainers index and the card is out about 3 days before the races..

So the operators have outsourced the information dissemination to providers who are more efficient........ just like they outsourced the tote betting (to the open bet).......lol >:D<

brilliant !!!! X(

The Computaform Express and The Racecard have the False Rail position.

Craig,as I said ,you inform us of some of the unexpected nuances and that is great, however the racing world is far wider than this forum. Lets not get like the Yanks who think they are the world!
Where would Mr average expect to get the latest news and information on a race meeting held by one of the operators?
Tabgold and Tab-online are the betting sites.................is it really unreasonable to expect the info necessary for betting purposes to be updated on those sites first?
Does that not make sense?

No not at all RF. sahorseracing.co.za is the official site where all noms, declarations, scratchings and many other things are done. This is the 1st port of call. This site is run by about 10 people in Gold Circle offices overlooking Greville and not out sourced and they do everything from these central offices for all racing around the country. Everything has to start there and then gets disseminated from there or if a race day on that course.
Nothing goes out except from here and Wednesday might have taken a little longer than normal but they were opening nominations and adding on races for the 29th for horses that were entered on the 23rd. We scratched for the 29th the next day so time was of the essence to get the noms in and sent to the handicappers to do their jobs and be sent back so that the draws could be done and sent back to the trainers.

OK,I am not going to harp on the subject ,but what you saying may be the essence of racing culture..............racing does what suits them best and punters can FIFO...................that is as opposed to the strategy of successful companies who realise who provides the turnover!
It doesn't affect me personally .............I race every day and therefore know where to get what I need..................it is the operators who are continually bleating about local turnover!

RF, you are just looking for an argument so I am not going to bother as we both know that no matter what and how truthful I am in my reply, you are going to try and make out no one cares about you. I am sure I have convinced some posters already to go to the better site so I am happy with that. Bye.

NO................a solution which provides an improved service to the tote punter.
SUGGESTION: when logging into either betting site, a note stating that all latest news is available at sahorseracing.co.za with a link to that site for convenience..............................is that too argumentative for you!!!!!!!
