I have watched the replays from head on and from the side view several times. Given the narrow margin of defeat - in my opinion - there is every chance that the placings would have been altered in the UK. As others have noted above, the initial contact was instigated by Legislate but that was minor and some way out, in the final 100 Wylie Hall gave Legislate two hefty bumps which knocked him out of his stride and denied him the opportunity to pass his rival.

On a different topic, it looked like the bumper crowd had a great day despite the controversy. However, the turf racing surface looked very poor and the addition of the Polytrack added nothing to the spectacle, its too late for a re-think at Greyville but hopefully track operators elsewhere will take note.

The TV coverage I saw was poor, presenters seemed to like the sound of their voice far too much, whatever happened to letting the picture tell the story?

Hi guys just back at hotel and would say that 90 % of the people I spoke to went for the result should have stood and it must have been a killer for connection but I felt that the change result was correct call

yes and I preached WH backed it already on 14 May when it was 50/1 my opion
Legislate initiated first contact , didn' t that unbalanced WH?
stood to win R42500 and yes I talk from my pocket but WH should have kept race if I was WH connections would have objected right after race was given to L for that first bump, imagine that scenario

2 buddies of mine caught the pick6..both had wyllie hall.
payout would have been much bigger.
20% and 17%.
Think the payout would have been over the million mark
if result was upheld.

5 had about quarter of tickets than 9 so dividend would have been 4 times more so would have been about R250000...hope my logic is correct...:)

Pick6 4-9
1st Leg : 1,13
2nd Leg : 3
3rd Leg : 1,12,16,17
4th Leg : 9
5th Leg : 3,5,11
6th Leg : 1,6
Net Pool = R 13766536.66
Tickets = 220.16
Dividend = R 62529.10

James there is I think a 15min time limit after the horses cross the line to lodge an objection - You cannot object against a horse if you finished ahead of it as there would be no point -

I watched the race with my son and his mate and yes knowing MJ, his body language gave it away. I do however think it was a good ride from him as nobody else decided to take the race by the scruff of the neck after nobody wanted to lead.

the result shood have stood however this is racing and we move on...i had pick6 quartet trifecta exacta the whole tooth but wont complain coz this is the sport we gamble on...if it was overruled would have still been a contreversial decision....lets take with a pinch of salt and move on....i really feel bad for M Leaf Byleveld and Mawing....most sickening feeling to loose this way..

I stood to win an absolute fortune when the race was taken away from surfing home so feel for the backers of wylie but no use crying about it as venod says move on...I must say mr leaf was a true gentleman when interviewed after winning later in the night...many in the industry could follow his example of sportmanship(tu)
