Durban was the only city in Africa which could boast of having a right-hand and left-hand turn track in it, until the 02-08-2014 when it lost the left -hand..............

Mike we seem to make a bigger thing about left and right handed tracks overseas, often hear a judge in the UK saying so and so prefers going right handed.

In KZN when the racing was the best in the country, we had two top 3 y/olds in the season who could really run and ARCHANGEL was trained Syd Laird, whilst his rival GATECRASHER was trained by Herman Brown sen.

ARCHANGEL unfortunately could not run well on a left-hand track and so the only time GATECRASHER beat him was on a left track Clairwood. It cost ARCHANGEL the opportunity to win the Cape Guineas and Derby etc. but he did win the Benoni Diamond Guineas and the S.A. Guineas and the S.A. 2000 and ran 3rd in the July, all on a right-hand course of course!
