Notice PE is being picked on

In the press and on here, Facebook etc

Minefield
Shithole

Etc etc

Very unfair IMO

So 1 or 2 % less favourites win, but the racing is by far the most competitive in South Africa, maybe it's because the fields are always at maximum or that there is just a lot more triers?

Anyway is rather punt in 4/1 the field races than 6 or 7 kzn races with short priced favourites , think about it 5 short priced favs every KZN on JHB card and their fav win % is roughly the same as PE

I can see the value

Your point about favourable odds is true, due to the larger fields and the relative evenness of the horses ability in each race.
Where I have a problem, is whether you can trust the form.
Practically every race you see, from about 250-300 metres out is 3 to 4 jockeys riding a finish whereas the balance of the field they are just going through the motions, with no reaction from the stipes.

Variety is the spice of life. Its Poly non stop now. Last we heard the grass track was a mess, but it is now on the mend. Last week with the rain on the Poly it was totally unacceptable. The trainer I spoke to told me the water never drained correctly and there was a massive bias up the straight. Horses who were handy stopped to nothing.

So while the stakes were paid out the punter ended up getting screwed as nobody really knows how to treat the track if its wet. The switch to the grass was also contentious. The same trainer told me that had it been Arlington they would definitely have raced.

PE used to be great. It's now just a roulette wheel on the Poly. The Fairview grass track when in good condition is fantastic. We never see it anymore.

The PE people are great. The trainers, owners and supporters deserve better.
