Can a Bookie deduct Tax from a winning Pick 6
10 years 8 months ago
I recently won a Pick 6 which I had played with a Bookie.
They then deducted 6 % Tax.
On research some Punters said they can, others say they Can't.
What is the legal situation ?

Yes they have to pay the 6% whether they take from the punter or cover it themselves is the option.

I play my bets at a well known bookmaker in the area I live in. They pay the tax on winning open bets so you receive the amount that the tote pays unless it is over their limits. These limits are quite big but obviously you run the risk of being capped if you catch the single ticket P6 OR SOMETHING SIMILAR

Thanks.
A quick question. Why do some Bookies have a R 100,000 limit on their tickets, and others don't.

Because they are different independant businesses, they can set their own limits
