10 years 4 months ago
The City of Durban has been listed in the top 10 cities to visit by the New York Times Travel Magazine in it's " 52 cities to visit in 2015 ".
Durban was also named one of The Seven Wonder Cities of the World.
It doesn't end there however, CNN Travel named Durban the " Coolest City " a few months ago.
S.A.'s maestro trainer Mike de Kock has described Durban as South Africa's best kept secret!!

New York Times names Durban a must visit City

Durban continues to rake in major accolades in the travel and tourism sector after the City was named among the top 10 in the list of ‘52 Cities to visit in 2015’ by New York Times Travel magazine, only a few weeks after it was named as one of the 07 Wonder Cities of the world.
The City of Durban made number 07 on the list, which the New York Times describes as “Untrammeled oases beckon, once-avoided destinations become must-sees and familiar cities offer new reasons to visit.”
Head of Durban Tourism, Philip Sithole, has welcomed the great news of the city being recognized in the top 10 cities to visit in 2015 by a global tourism industry giant like the New York Times.
“The U.S. market is a key source market for the city and province and thus far DURBAN Tourism has made significant inroads to tap into this lucrative market. We are confident that in 2015 we will see an increase in US arrivals and we are delighted that finally the global market recognizes the vast tourism potential for DURBAN,” he said.
The City of Durban was listed in the top 10 alongside other major global Cities like Milan in Italy, Cuba, Philadelphia in the USA, Yellow Stone National Park, Singapore, Bolivia, Faroe Islands and Macedonia.
Most importantly, Durban is the only African City in the top 10 of the list, which gives credence to the statement that indeed, Durban is the gateway into the African continent and a destination of choice, for both visitors and investors.

CNN did cover the Durban July. Francesca Cumani presented the show. I remember posting it on ABC. Could have been in 2013.

Durban Rocks big time.
I have been everywhere from Alaska to Zebediela , but Durban is just special.
The problem is that over the holiday seasons it becomes too congested with the out of towners!!

Different strokes for different folks - I find Durban too congested and too humid - not bad in the winter months though
