"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon' Thursday 24th April Workings...
17 years 1 month ago
Afternoon.
This afternoon completed then, and went as follows.......
The 1st runner we wanted 3.45, and with being around 3.5/55 on arrival and then dropping down to us, we had a lay at the rock bottom of the market and 3.45. The price then drifted out to our own price of 3.75 and beyond, so a chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade was nicely beaten and so a good result.......
The 2nd runner we wanted 1.8, and with being around 2.18 on arrival and not coming down to us at any stage at all after mails were sent, we all had to avoid the race. The runner went and won a battling finish, so a good leave.........
The 3rd runner we wanted 2.8, but a non runner and 11.1% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.6. The price had drifted to around 2.7 on arrival and then dropped down to us and beyond, so we had a lay at 2.6 max. The lay went and won, so the way it goes........
The 4th runner we wanted 3.3, and with being a well supported 2.92 on arrival, we had a lay at 2.92. The lay went and won, so the way it goes again! Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it.......
The 5th runner we wanted 1.8, and with being around 2.24 on arrival and not coming down to us at any stage at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner came in 2nd after a close finish, so close, but 'one that got away in hindsight'..........
The 6th runner we wanted 2.0, and with being around 2.2 on arrival and then dropping down to us and beyond, we had a lay at 2.0 max. The lay came in 2nd after a battle, so a good result........
The 7th runner we wanted 1.4, and with being around 1.6 on arrival and not coming down to us at any stage at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner went and made all to win well, so a good leave.........
The 8th runner we wanted 3.2, and with being that, and slightly shorter on arrival, we had a lay at 3.2 max. The price then drifted out to our own price of 3.5, so a chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade won a battling finish, so yet another favourite wins and the way it goes. Glad of the drift and 'free' bet now though........
The 9th runner we wanted 3.3, and with being around 3.2 on arrival, we had a lay at around 3.2. The lay was nicely beaten and so a good result........
The 10th and final runner we wanted 2.1, and with drifting to around 3.55 on arrival and just getting bigger and bigger as if a leg had fallen off, we never see our lay price at any stage at all, so all had to avoid the race. The runner actually went and won a battling finish, so a very nice priced winner, but more importantly a very good leave..........
WELL PLAYED/BATTLED........................(3 from the first 4 (75%) went and won - 5 from the first 8 went and won (62.5%) - and 6 from the 10 (60%) in total - So ultra tough, but we did all we could and came through it ok)
'Rolling' strategy/target players (no 'free' lays for them) had to concede 2.5 targets.............They started their 1st strategy/target on the 1st runner, and although a good start, they then hit a rough patch with plenty of winners, and with needing a little to recoup on their 5th and final lay (the 8th runner) at 3.2, they had to end up conceding 2.5 targets on the session. Could've been a whole lot worse with all those winners, so although never happy with a little loss, we couldn't do anymore than we did, so we'll take it and move on.........
'Bank building' strategy/target players started with a 'free' lay (the 1st runner) that bought a tiny profit..........They then had their 1st lay (the 3rd runner) at 2.6 max, but a poor result see them go behind..........Then came their 2nd lay (the 4th runner) at 2.92, but another poor result see them go further behind.......They then had their 3rd lay (the 6th runner) at 2.0 max, and a good result see them win a chunk back.........Then came another 'free' lay (the 8th runner) which only bought relief.........They then had their 4th and final lay (the 9th runner) at 3.5, and a good result see them break level. So 4 runner players end level, and so do 5 runner builders as of being levels with only one potential lay left and no room at all for error. So builders finish levels, and that's a very good effort with all those winners.....
Bank builder 4 runner strategy/target. £400 bank. Max 25% target £100
'Free' lay bought average/minimum profit £10
Total bank now £410
1st lay £102.50 to win as much of the remaining £90 @ 2.6 max. Result negative. Lose £102.50
Total bank now £307.50
2nd lay £102.50 to recoup as much of the £92.50 @ 2.92. Result negative. Lose £102.50
Total bank now £205
3rd lay £102.50 to recoup as much of the £195 @ 2.0 max. Result positive. Win £102.50
Total bank now £307.50
'Free' lay bought no free profit, only relief.
Total bank remains £307.50
4th lay £307.50 to recoup the £92.50 @ 3.25. Result positive. Win £92.50
Total bank now £400
Overall result. Level.
***************************************
Bank builder 5 runner strategy/target. £400 bank. Max 25% target £100
'Free' lay bought average/minimum profit £8
Total bank now £408
1st lay £81.60 to win as much of the £92 needed @ 2.6 max. Result negative. Lose £81.60
Total bank now £326
2nd lay £81 to recoup as much of the £74 @ 2.92. Result negative. Lose £81
Total bank now £245
3rd lay £81 to recoup as much of the £155 @ 2.0 max. Result positive. Win £81
Total bank now £326
'Free' lay bought no free profit, only relief.
Total bank remains £326
4th lay £163 to recoup the £74 @ 3.25. Result positive. Win £74
Total bank now £400
So with being level, one potential lay remaining, and no room at all for error, it's always advised to take the levels.
Overall result. Level.

Traders had to concede a little on the 3rd runner at 2.6 max, but all others see them win a bit, or break level, so they finish around levels and that's a fair effort with all those winners...
So a tough session again with plenty of winners, but we bobbed and weaved the best we could, and with builders finishing levels it was a very good, disciplined effort, so well played guys. A small loss for rollers, but they expect that now and again, so we'll take that, give a bit of profit back, and move on...Speak soon...
