IMO, is thus far the most standout horse for the July .
he has been nominated for the Jubilee Hcp on 14th June carrying joint top weight 60.5kg with Tellina
I see poor Prince Of Orange is also in that race - The guy has run unplaced in all three legs of the TC and then went on to the Daily News and is obviously just an old A/B Div horse. Ferraris put Fah Fee(finished just behind Prince in the Gauteng Guineas ) in a MR 86 to win while this guy keeps going the Feature race route. I do hope he does well from the 1 draw if he takes his place in the Jubilee.

Futura will have 2 lengths in hand at the finish, got the feeling cormack was waiting for race to be run before letting him go...Wylie hall and Majmu to fill PA positions

Wonder whether Cormack will retain the ride now that Legislate has been withdrawn?
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Everyone knows my allegiance to Futura and I think he will win......what, however of Deputy Judd? Are we overlooking him out of the 3 year old camp? I think he was desperate in the Daily News and if Azzie is to be believed he was only 75% for that race........
He has run well in all his highveld races and if he improves more, he could be in the places at decent odds. You can't have French Navy be 10's and DJ be 33's.
Might take some places to cover my Futura bets.

I've gone for him a few times but he always seems to wander or get into trouble in the last 400m

For me the 3yr olds (bar Legal Eagle who holds them all on the Derby form) have a lot to do - they have been given MR increases based on the Daily News where The Conglomerate was used as the line horse - as for Deputy Judd, at current ratings he will come into the July 2 kg's under sufferance ............

I know that Prince of Orange was very highly thought of by the Magner yard (they believed him to be better than his runs in those features) - was going to be given a break and prepared for the Emerald cup - but the owners had other ideas and hence the stable change ............

1 thing most people tend to forget when it comes to the BIG RACE is that the 3yo are still IMPROVING sorts...so whether they are 2 or 3 KGS under sufferance means crap, the real thing is who has improved over the past month or so.

Yes they should in general still be improving - but the WFA allowance recognizes that - so for me being under sufferance is a big thing - Legislate 'won' off his correct rating last year - another 0.5 kg's would have seen him beaten ...............

And I think the weights are out today ...........would be interesting to see, for example, what rating Punta Arenas get - ran in the July last year off 108 and was at 106 before his win on Saturday - so in a way the win was not really ideal in terms of his chances in the July ....on the other hand the win males him a definite runner, while a place might not have been good enough to get a run (he was 18th on the log) ...........you win some, you lose some ...

I think French Navy and majmu will fight it out, punta arenas and futura will run into the other places, futura has a great turn of foot but he tends to race far back in the early stages n he seems to have a slight dead spot like the mighty power before he kicks like an express train, but the time he's in full cry the race could be over..that running style plus july traffic could be an issue for him.
