Futura: look at what he beat in the met & queens plate, no further comment
Legislate: seriously capable horse, fitness unknown.
Ertijaal: doesnt appear to stay 2000m or more too well
Conglomerate: may not have been trying too hard to win the DN, seems aimed at July. Big contender imo.
Legal Eagle: Perhaps the most standout horse....Major Contender, if he runs of course!
French Navy, Dep judd & Co : have run in major features at the end of March, April & May, could perhaps lack the extra bit in the tank/freshness of others.
Majmu: outclassed
Helderburg Blue: Interesting horse, Possible place chance in July.

My interpretation of last night's discussion with Justin Snaith, they both very good horses and he was loathe to split them. Having said that, it's not the first time he has said Futura is better suited to the July distance. I think from that statement Futura is not going to be cut in half to win on Saturday, if he does win, then it will be on sheer ability. Conversely, whilst Legislate missed his comeback run in the Drill Hall, he has the class to win this, however the wide draw does not assist both horses. Moral of the story for me, back Legislate on Saturday, as we know he has done well previously returning from a break, and Futura in the "Big One".
Legislate and the July, i am of the opinion win lose or draw on Saturday, he will take his place in the July, one, to defend his crown, and two, they do pay up to 10th place (i think). If he does not do to well in the July, he will have a full go in the Champions Stakes (think that is the name of the race), which Futura won last season - in a common canter.
Just my own dippy logic, don't come looking for me when they both get rolled though

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I think if Legislate runs in the July he will be in the exacta - He "won" this race so I have no problem with the distance - the outsider if he gets in must be Dynastic Power as he'll be getting weight from many.

....this horse does not need a decent draw to feature in the race.....he is not very quick and takes forever to get into a race.....drawn well he will be swamped by everything looking to improve from the jump....this horse needs a bad draw....and needs the race to be run at a pace....unfortunately they will rush from the jump.....slow it down on the back straight and he will have to rely on some big splits coming into the home straight....he should be the fastest finishing horse in the field.....whether he gets there in time.... is a gamble that I may not be prepared to take.....

The Conglomerate is my July horse, finish and klaar!!
Hope Superman takes the ride as it has been 7 years since he won his last July on Hunting Tower and Joey Ramsden looking for his first ever July win. For me that is the right combination eager and hunger for success. Excellent run by this horse last Saturday, excellent!!

I am afraid I am one with little faith in Futura!
Purely on last years July and the current likely wghts, Futura is held 4.5 lights by both Wylie Hall and Legislate(without trying to second guess every horse's well being)
The 4.5 lengths with Legislate was confirmed in the Green Point stakes.
So where will it find the 4.5 lgths.......legislate's run in the QP is obviously ignored.
Futura's win in the Met was in a poor time (compare to Ertijaal time) and the proximity of Gold Onyx suggests to me that Futura's amended rating is too high.
Personally, I think that the 3yr olds will be superior, but if the older brigade prevail ,there is no evidence for me that it will be Futura!
