Tote Attack
10 years 2 months ago
Durban - A gang of seven men stormed a Pinetown betting bar on Thursday morning, holding staff at gunpoint before making off with as much as R100 000.
A customer who walked in on the attack was stabbed by one of the robbers.
Police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said that shortly after the Tab (at the corners of Kings and Anderson Roads) opened, the store manager was confronted by seven men, several of whom were armed.
“The men ordered him to open a safe at gunpoint. They took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene,” he said.
“No shots were fired and a case of business robbery was opened at Pinetown SAPS for investigation. No arrests have been made,” Naicker added.
A police source close to the investigation, who could not be named because he is not authorised to speak to the media, said that the men had obscured their faces with beanies.
“They stormed inside the shop and once they had everyone under control they tied the staff up with cable ties. When a customer came into the shop he was stabbed by one of the robbers, who then threatened his life,” he said.
“The shop manager still needs to tally what was taken but it may be as much as R100 000 and we are now looking for the suspects,” he said

Exactly correct Mr H (if, as a foreign observer, I am permitted to comment). And a president who seems less inclined to resolve that "attitude" than he is in building nice houses and private jets.

Glad you have the flu then Sheza! (but hope you recover soon).
Indeed, let us hope the man who was stabbed recovers quickly and that all who were subject to this "invasion" suffer no lasting trauma.

Bob well i know tote has a place in Kruger. But there is no way the tab opens first. Kruger opens early as a benefit for patrons. Tote only opens at like 10. As well noways tote have 100k before punting starts.
Really sad.

Another 'sad' aspect is that according to our so-called justice system they will treat this as an alleged incident and give these a...holes the right to have a long drawn out trial preceded by a just as long bail hearing......what a joke...

Tote machines could be operated by Krugger if not mistaken. This lot Krugger are major supporters of the OPEn Bet. Know of a case on New Years Day and the one branch refused to pay out a WINNING Jackpot ticket taken on the open bet because their dissemination had moved the goalposts and created a Jackpot on four races in contradiction of the fields that were displayed on the board in their branch.
To add insult the punter was questioned whether the bet was placed after the 1st leg had commenced and also why he had taken several different combination tickets as if this was against the rules.
The idiot that was responsible for this fiasco was someone Peter who is some sort of Fund Manager.
Stay away from the open bet, especially when the bookies move the goalposts and make excuses not to pay, like Krugger's.
