It is my opinion that Tarry and De Kock will dominate the pace from the off with Tarry having 3 runners in the first wave, and The Conglomerate and Pine Princess making up the rest.
I will base my study around a moderate to steady pace and the above paragraph... soooooo, I will know my fate after 600m's :woohoo:
Haven't researched ,but one winning top weight ,off the top of my head ,was Politician..........not sure if it was the last one?

Ok ...so started doing my homework.... flew through the card at a rapid rate... Garden Province stakes makes the July look straight forward
.... looking at the card overall though ... makes me think that roulette may be the better option.

Interesting to notice that HALF THE DEFICIT weighted to beat WYLIE HALL and THE CONGLOMERATE weighted to beat FRENCH NAVY, my whole issue with the top contenders in the betting is simply the weight, will be extremely difficult or near impossible for FUTURA, MAJMU, FRENCH NAVY or WYLIE HALL to take victory... History tells us this in no uncertain terms. So it's simply down to this... It's LEGAL EAGLES race to lose, if he doesn't win for some bizarre reason then we could see a MASSIVE priced horse take honors, that could be all of HELDERBERG BLUE, PUNTA ARENAS, ICE MACHINE or POWER KING. That's really my view on this years race.

All everyone is talking about is the weight it has to carry, I don't think it will matter to much as Futura is a class horse, and i am sure horse fielding top weigh have won the July Before.Going to be boxing exactas with MajmuDean321 wrote: Futura for me. Cover on Majmu.
Seems many have forgotten what a good horse Futura actually is and how well it won the Met. Never mind a third last year in the July. Some say at those weights it's going to be impossible. Shall see come Saturday.
Problem with FUTURA, 1. He's giving WYLIE HALL 6 kg's on last years run and he finished behind WYLIE HALL 2. FUTURA couldn't win with 53 kg's now he carries 60.00 Kg's 3. He's giving 4 kg's to LEGAL EAGLE who's joint top rated horse for this years VDJ.
In all honesty IMO FUTURA won't find a place even at his best.

My contribution for the day...based on speed ratings in variety of publications...
Race 1 - 4,7
Race 2 - 7
Race 3 - 3
Race 4 - 2
Race 5 - 17,11
Race 6 - 1,14
Race 7 - 7,10 - still prefer Wylie Hall even though speed ratings indicate otherwise...has the draw, will be handy so unlikely to have traffic problems in straight and will see if any horse passes it this year as, but for a short passage, it led for a long way all the way to the finish line last year...
Race 8 - 5,1
Race 9 - 14,9,12
Race 10 - 6,1
Race 11 - 3,10
Race 12 - 5
All the best to all Clanners for the day and, to those travelling to / from the July, be safe in your travels...

Hi All,
looks like a very interesting days racing tomorrow
I like Fulcrum
St Tropez
in the big one I fancy mike de kock and am leaning towards Majmu to win...she is the one!!
same jurisdiction the other one in my atc's
the rest especially the 2 year old races will be difficult to decipher.
