But I would like to see the number of winners ridden in Kimberley
Unfortunately they appear as Central Provinces
As with Cheyne who rides most in PE due to his job with Greeff

Many years ago in the early 1950 a jockey called Desmarais rode the most winners in South Africa
and was not declared Champion Jockey as he had ridden all his winners in Bloemfontein which was a minor centre

I do agree he is a very hard working JOCKEY
He has had 206 2nds to date, my question is how many of those 2nds was less than half a lenth
of the winners and how much money have the owners lost because he is just not good enough to get the horse over the line,???? (12% win)
Then how many favorites has he ran 2nd and 3rd ???
If he can convert half of the 206 2nds he would have walked the championship.
I know some of you will say so does most off the jocks -
Lyle Hewitson - stats are also quite high but when he is on a favorite you know he is trying
It is just a thought ....
