Anybody thinking about backing the Boks to win the WC should seriously consider taking that money and giving it to a charity or go out and buy your wife/girlfriend/mistress a nice present as it will go much further than wasting it on betting it away on a lost cause of a team.

Bafana Bafana have more chance of getting a wildcard entry and going over and winning the rugby world cup than the Springboks do.

Just wait. At worst the semi-finals and I am right behind them even though there are a few selection problems. We will be right there.

They are our boys, our sons, I'll support them not punt them.

I don't know what to expect; they ran the Aussies and the AB's close (could have won both those games imo), only for the same team (more or less) to be humiliated by Argentina - but for me the way that match was refereed by that French excuse for a ref, contributed in a big way to the poor display.
Then the team was changed and we came back with a bang in the away game against Argentina in Argentina - but again I think the way that match was refereed had an influence (in our favor this time).
For me, a lot is going to depend on the team selected on the day - I would never have taken Pienaar (prefer both Hougaardt and de Klerk) so hopefully Fourie du Preez will be the first choice at 9. Also Kirchner is not my cup of tea - with Mvovu and even Kriel in the team, we have no shortage of full backs. And then the center pairing, and the fly-half, etc, etc.
So hopefully they make the semi's (not a foregone conclusion imo - the Scots a potential banana peel?) and then from there it's just 2 good (lucky?) games to holding the Cup aloft

I have more belief in the Flat Earth Society, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, any and all faeries and Leprechauns, Father Christmas, sightings of Lord Lucan and Elvis, the Sandman, the missing Kruger millions, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, someone catching a carryover p6 with a straight line bet and being paid the full dividend as an open bet, the Australian mystery punter, Clyde Basel being on the right side of 100kg, Jaap Visser being awarded for kindness to animals, Shannon Devoy winning the E Cape jockeys title, Bournemouth winning the EPL, confirmed sightings of UFO's in central London, the Pope getting married, Markus Jooste not having another winner for the rest of the season, the Rand strengthening to parity against the British Pound and so forth than these embarrassments parading as Springboks winning the RWC.

@Over the Air...some of them are so crocked they will be "parading" in wheelchairs or walking sticks or neck braces...I think the Springbok squad announcement was the first anyone had seen of FdP in many months...whilst some of them have not had any contact (and rugby is a contact sport) in months...the reserves at home had better stay in shape as they are certainties to make an appearance at some stage...
