SCOTIA AFTER THE WEEKEND!
17 years 1 month ago
Good morning to the CLAN on what was a winning weekend for scotia.
Have to mention the racing at the big "T" on Saturday, where the Realslimshady was a good winner and Mans Mood once again did his connections proud [to think they had an offer from Fray Bentos].
Rat Burana did no favours, but had problems at the start and will give it another chance, but Zarkava was impressive in France another superstar? to join.Curlin, Getaway, Sacred Kingdom, Weekend Hustler, Big Brown and we hope Sun Classique??
Well done to Man Unt, and I have always been a big fan of Ryan Giggs, good to watch.
Look forward to Wed night and hope Rangers can win a European trophy, not sure where to watch the game?
I must mention the food on Sat, I have been watching master chef and fancy myself as a bit of a food critic.
I was in the Furious room and the "Indian" theme can only be described as superb, o.k. the background music was as good as the Afrikaans I had to endure the other night, but I did enjoy a couple of tracks "Nobody loves you like Naidoo" and " How my sitar gently weeps", but seriously, this was a feast of note and believe it or not also Yorkshire puds on offer and scotia had a Yorkshire vindaloo [brilliant].
The staff were telling me that over the next few weeks that they will be doing the following themes as opposed to the normal buffet.
Indian [ have discussed and if they are all as good as this we are on a winner].
Steakhouse[ this will have scotia looking for a nice 500 gram rump]
Mexican [must say I am a big fan of Mexican food]
Germany [don't mention the war!]
Italy [also nothing wrong with the eyeties]
Seafood [this promises to be a classic]
Arabian [I expect MDK to have a few friends over so book early]
British [not sure if this includes haggis and black pudding?please no Scottish music! but we can hope for the best of British]
Well I will be giving it a bash over the next few weeks and feel its another good initiative to bring a few new friends to racing, so lets support the effort.
My partner in crime [easygoer] went to the Elevation and said it was poor? and must say I went up for a drink and it did not look up to its normal standard? However its good we have a choice and that all the guys and staff are trying to keep the racegoers happy, but lets not focus in the Furious and drop the standards with the Elevation buffet.
The awards also looked a great night and well done to Lucky and all the other winners, we can only hope that Clan Classique can swing us an invite next year or maybe a special award for Mans Mood in the "most improved death row category".
I have posted plenty on the site, but again if we are going to show between 40 to 50 races per day, we have to get our scheduling and priorities right, if we insist on not having a second channel and I must say I feel sorry for the over worked presenters during these long days.
Will check the racing later and post on the site.
Good punting and may your God be with you.

I invited a friend of mine to come racing and took him up to the Elevation room, the venue was great but the food was not up to standard, all the food was laid out, but the starters and mains seemed as if there was not enough. When i opened the dish with roast potatoes, there were a handfull left plus they were cold. The new caterers have a bit to find like a couple of our nags, but lets give the guys another chance.

Must comment that the food in the Furious room was excellent on Saturday, a major improvement on the previous fare of 6 months ago. Must also say that the couple of times I have been in the Elevation room recently the tables were too close together and the food was not that great.
