R1 Goodwood Aviator E/W. Rejuvenated by a spell of hurdling, he hacked up when returned to the flat at Pontefract last time (was once a classy flat horse in Germany). Is only 5lbs higher here and should go well again in a race with no real strength in depth. The widely available 7/1 is an excellent E/W price with four places being paid.

R4 Chepstow Top Gamble (win or E/W). Had a very fruitful novice campaign over fences last season and finished up by winning a Grade 2 at Ayr. Goes very well fresh (none of his rivals have had a run recently either) and isn't badly handicapped off 154 here. Should give it a good go from the front at 9/2.

One more for today. R6 Chepstow Benbens E/W. Finished fourth in this last year when he ruined his chance with a couple of bad mistakes. Ran some fine races in defeat at the big meetings last season and will find this veterans chase (his first) a good deal easier. Can make the first three at least at an attractive 7/1.
