Parade Magazine Competition

I see in the latest edition of the Parade magazine they proudly offer a competition 'to win two return air tickets to Durban from any destination in the country to attend the Vodacom Durban July' and the price includes a 'VIP invite to the Summerhill Stallions Day on the day after the big race'.

Unfotunately the accommodation 'excludes the Vodacom Durban July weekend' amd the flights are on ....wait for it... NATIONWIDE AIRLINES!

Yes I realize that, but would have thought that some sort of 'correction' could have been included, or mentioned on Tellytrack. This sort of thing detracts from the wonderful glossy/classy see and feel of the magazine.

Perhaps the editor can inform us if an alternative has been found, at least then one only need to find accomodation for the weekend - if one has taken advantage of the RA's incredible offer of attending the July at R1600 a head!

Thanks Adios for realising exactly what happened - timing!

Nationwide were the only airline to step into the breach when we approached most of them. The trick is to have two seats held without knowing names and then also to get them at the right price. What are the chances of us choosing the one airline to crash in the last 20 years or so!!
Was the last Flightstar??
If one looks at the fact that R71 million was held in advance ticket payments then I don't feel alone in not forseeing what I (or those thousands of other prospective fliers ) couldn't possibly have known.

Whatever happens we will honour the prize(and that doesn't mean a bus or train) and that is precisely why I didn't make a fuss of the Nationwide angle by going public on Tellytrack and SPost.

I have had stacks of competition entries so it seems that most people are not concerned by the demise!
The accomodation unfortunately did exclude that very busy VDJ weekend - our sponsoring hotel is fully booked but we did suggest folks come along and stay a bit longer therefore benefitting from the prize.

I personally introduced competitions into Parade when I took over two years ago - they are very well patronised and this is the first minor but not insurmountable snag encountered. We will continue regardless and as soon as a replacement carrier is on board I will announce it on Tellytrack and the print media.

Thanks for your interest.

Thanks Grunberger for the reply; not to make too big a fuss about this, but imo a mention on Tellytrack just to confirm that the prize will be honoured not withstanding Nationwide's demise would have secured you even more entries.

Well done for introducing the competitions and keep up the good work with the magazine.
