R3
Looking at Paree's last four runs
4 Ran close to Tell My Star who showed up 4th to Bally Swiss Thursday Vaal
3 Won beating One Yesterday ( won recently Turffies)
2 ran second beating Bally Swiss and that won the Tell My Star race
1 ran fourth ,25 behind Shatoosh ( won subsequently) and ahead of Bally Swiss (two in a row)
Worth a strong four place bet 94 cents to the rand
Drawn widest but looks a jockey strike

Good luck.

RACE 3 MISS BRODY - In great form and this extra 200m should suit.
RACE 5 HELDERBERG BLUE - Class of the field who will be hard to stop if near peak fitness.

Piano Man a straight forward form selection but its hardly ever that simple
Best jockeys on horses that don't have the form to win troubles

Last day of my annual leave then back to work, with no time to study form, so let's hope things go a little better than the last few days.
Race 3: Miss Brody looks set for a good one, but don't discount Wandie's form over this distance and track, especially if a little soft ground.
Race 4: A well worn contest , with any one of Bengal Boy or Piano Man turning up on the day. Hot Chili also in with a chance, for value look to Victoria's Love.
Race 5: Another well worn event with Helderburg Blue usually returning, from Solar Star and No Worries - Serissa probably better suited here than on previous attempts.
Race 6: Blotted by horses off rests and a little off preps for the July, so needs some investigation. The form for this race should lie with Stormy Eclipse, It is Written and Balance Sheet - but there is some hint that Masters Eye, and Big Cat are expected to put in performances - while Marchant is also expected to run well.
Race 7: Galiica Rose looks strong here with an outside challenge from Crackpot.
For the moment, I will only be focussing on wether Wandie's can upset Miss Brody. A little more later.

If you line up the same contenders on the same track and conditions , 10 times -- you'll probably get a different result every time. That's the nature of the game we are trying to beat

I think it's a mistake to ignore the claims of the likes of Seriissa, Solar Star, Great Rumpus and No Worries. Helderberg Blue has been thereabouts of late and the distance is a worry. I'll put him in my exotics but not as a banker. I'm still looking for a banker or two or a race where I can use two only. Race 4 qualifies possibly with 1,2 Piano Man and Bengal Boy but I'm not entirely convinced. If I can't find a banker I'll pass today's exotics unless I stab with Bengal Boy and play a cover QAT in that race using him as a partial roving banker with the field.
Something like:
4,1,3
2
4,1,3
F
4,1,3
4,1,3
2
F
As for trainers using actual races to get horses 'fit', it's sacrilege in my opinion. Surely they can use the stable companions and training facilities to mimic race conditions and time the splits and aim for race readiness. It's enough that we have to isolate the contenders but to also have to judge readiness or level of fitness just adds another wrinkle we can do without. At least in the US training times are made public which gives one an idea of how fit the horse is. Not that it's sacrosanct but at least one has an idea. Hats off to those trainers who bring their runners to the races ready for action.
End of rant.
