YOU BE THE JUDGE
17 years 3 weeks ago
My opinion.....Charl's remained cool and calm...got his points across well. The "Gingerman"clearly got irritated quite often using terms like nonsense and rubbish and Vee sadly lost the plot....cannot hide his irritation and urgently needs to sharpen his debating skills.Larry was caught between the devil and the deep sea.Round one to Charls.

charl in a different league to the other 3,he sees the bigger picture which sadly the others cannot see...it is very clear that the people running racing are not the right people..garner has no idea and is frankly pathetic ,vee was out of his depth and larry tries hard but i dont think he is qualified for the job

Charles put daylight between himself and the very moderate opposition. surprised to see jockey club put a lightweight as their representative. it was same old, same old.what is the poll going to achieve at the end of the day? nobody is going to take responsibility or fund the exercise anyway, so whats the fuss or did I miss something.sorry Charles you went to a gun fight with a knife.

Just to help you guys of Phumellela, NHA and the Racing Association out.
Every day the punters punt blindly on first timers.
The only clue if the horse can run is the betting move. The betting move is never from the owner but from somebody else. Most of the time it is wrong anyway.
Now charles i must agree with you and can't understand why the rest of the panel can't see it that we do need proper Barrier Trails.
We can even take it further not only first timers but also horses that haven't raced for some time. The Computaform sprint would have been a great excample, where the public wouldn't have lost so much on Mythical Flight.
Larry just to inform you that you can't beat the bookie even if you try. You can have the best information around.
First timers isn't the best punt around, but with trails it can become a tool to punting.
Regarding the cost of the trails: it is interesting that nobody wants the cost but the cost is good enough for the punter/s out there to carry.
Is this bunch of oke's really in charge of our sport.

I enjoyed the show very much as well. Well done to all involved with setting it up, and using a panel that had very different points of view.

I did not see the show, any opinions on whether it will achieve anything, or is just a talk shop?

Living in the UK I never saw the show either - however anything that brings debate into the open is too be appluaded.
As for TS's comment - I for one am not surprised by his positive response, basically 95% of what TS has posted is to do with transparancy, and accountability. So if the programme leads to unfetted, honest debate about the issues of the undustry, then be prepared to be plesantly surprised on a weekly basis - lol!
As for last night's topic of 'Barrier Trails' - helpful, maybe. Be and end all of first time starters - doubtful. Quite simply, if you don't want to show your hand via said trial's you won't - and the public will be none the wiser.
Kudos guys, is there going to be a way of getting certain issues raised on the programme i.e. Stakes Increases. Or will they be posed only by the programme's producers?
Anyhow, 6,000miles notwithstanding, keep up the good work -
respectfully, Jim.

Did not watch the show, but will try and catch the replays, but for me another step in the right direction, the more horse racing shows on the box the better for the sport, imo.

Thanks Cat for the summary; yes debate is good, were there any plans mentioned to take the discussion further? Or is this topic now closed?
