Jockeys with beards?
8 years 5 months ago
Probably does not warrant a separate thread but was watching a race from Australia and one of the jocks had a full beard and to be honest in my many years in racing I can't remember seeing a jock with a beard ?
Does anyone come to mind?
It must be for aerodynamics

The late Peter Dillon is the only jockey who had a beard at some stage.

Why jockeys don't have beards.............
'Cos that's where the hay comes from to feed the horse and make it go fast
Their voices haven't broken yet, you can't expect them to start shaving.
So that when they win a close run race, it's by a short head..... not a whisker!
I would say that they could, but most choose not to because it is excess weight...
Its probably the norm in Afghanistan racing.
To avoid possible confusion with parts of the horses anatomy
