First Timers

I enjoy a punt on the horses and do OK on place accumulators especially at Fairview because living locally I pay more attention.

I also enjoy an hour or so playing roulette.

However, roulette and the horses are miles apart. Who put todays racecard together?

Race 2 - No first timers.

Race 3. first leg of the PA. 4 First timers.

The goal is to make it as difficult as possible to catch...

I thought the goal was to make it reasonably possible to work out. Difficult or not is irrelevant. It still costs the tote the same amount of money.

We are talking about the PA not the Jackpot or P6. Why have first timers in the first leg when there were none in the previous race?

I don't think that is true, and if it is then the tote have missed a trick. Totes around the world know that it's better to pay out 1000x R500 than 1x R500,000. They need people back in the queue a.s.a.p. so "making" bets difficult is bad for business.

Their profit is a cut of turnover so they need the money through the machine as many times as possible. The odd big payout feeds the dream but it's otherwise bad for turnover.

....a bit off the current subject but agree that they do try making it more difficult to win.....the P6 and taking out couplings on stable companions is a prime example...
....they even gloat about it in making carryovers to feed month end weekend megapools....and it is blatantly obvious that the race programming and positioning of maiden plates into the exotic leg bets especially on mid week meetings is purposely done for similar affect.... :evil:

.....and its only a matter of time when they abandon the 1st timer rule in the P6 bets to make it even harder..... :oops:

Just had a message from a trainer and he said they run these races early because the fields can often end up tiny , which is bad for exotics etc
