Its no secret I know Louis we met many many years ago and before I was his patron I was his friend. One thing I say say about Louis is his is consistent and very truthful with all his owners friends or not.

its very rare you will see a horse leave his years and improve, if it does appear to improve there is often a reason.

The Lion Guard

We bought him and See Are Seven at the same time. All along Louis told me that The Lion Guard could run and was working like a machine. How disappointed and baffled we all were on his 2 starts.

Then the call came from Louis.

" Boy I cannot train this horse, he needs to be on the sand or poly. Its too expensive to raid so I suggest you move him down to your trainer in Durban"

He was effectively costing himself turnover and profit BUT in Louis Goosens yard the horse comes a short head 1st in front of the owner.

Lezanne accepted him, spoke to Goosen and has brought him along nicely. Today's run was fully expected and he could sneak a race or 2 over 1000m.

the moral of the story is look after you owner and horse even if it means moving them somewhere else.

Louis G a top man. And great trainer!!

What a wonderful story when all we read in racing is doom and gloom.

Correct, honest full of integrity, open, lets you know all the time whats going on..very very few trainers do that!!

Top man the Goose......i really miss his input. He posts very seldom these days...but i understand why

I fit in very well. This horse was originally named Bubbles by my boy. They said no and he chose The Lion Guard.

Louis chose him and sold him to me and as I said recommended him going to the poly track.

His fractions are not that bad and he missed the kick as well as having a horse run alongside him for much of the way.

I think we will have plenty fun with him which in turn will make it even easier for me to "fit in"
