Has the result of today's Gold Challenge made you think twice about backing PP for the July...?

My thoughts are that the horse will pull up sore! To me was not striding freely in running anyone else see the same thing I saw

Never in the race.
Might get a price now for the July.

As soon as the weights came out I said 3-1 was a rubbish price for the July. Even if he won today 3-1 is still no value in what is a glorified handicap.

A few weeks ago Pocket Power shod a shoe and was footsore for few days, thats why he wore concussion pads today. We know PP has has problems before so maybe it was an issue today.

After this run i can't see how PP can make amends in 3 weeks time. At least we had a Cape Town winner though!

Can someone in the Bass camp give feedback on his soundness. Puffin?? Great win with the Links, can you give any info on the Pocket Rocket, Not his usualflying finish today. Worrying for the big one.

Apparently PP has never been better.

One HAS to say that Dancer's Daughter (winning 3 Gr1's from 4 Gr1 outings) is no fluke. Imbongi form franked by Bold ellinore, and now beaten PP 2-0.
Dancer's D beat PP receiving 2,5 today (and Imbongi) and set to receive 5kg over further if no adjustment.

Russian Sage at 51,5 must have Irwin dancing a jig though. The preps of these horses answers questions, while PP keeps us wondering.

Simply, the Successfull Bidder/Hunting Tower older guard look like they've had their shot. PP beginning to look vulnerable. Snaith looking incredibly strong, they couldn't have written a better script. His horses are racking up the Gr1s as they like.

Dancers daughter beat a top class field emphatically today. No doubt about that.
The Pocket Rocket was easily beaten for early speed as usual and finished well.
Maybe...just maybe 1600m at this stage of his illustrious carreer might be too short for him against the best the country has to offer. The greyville 2200m, I believe, will be a different matter all together. Write him off at your peril!

I saw a documentary on Pocket Power a week ago on Tellytrack. His legs were bandaged up, put me off his chances today as well as the fact that he's never won away from Cape Town. I wonder if he will run in July!

Will dancer's daughter run?

Russian Sage and River Jetez looking good for the me.

PP has never won out of the Cape and maybe he never will.Always beaten in KZN and has genuine excuses BUT champions overcome draws , pace and whatever is thrown their way.A good horse but not a great horse.I think PP should give the July a miss and go for the Champions Cup at Clairwood.

the duke thx for your advice but i think you should stick to playing marbela.

Pocket power is a champion and a freak of a horse you dont win back to back mets by being just a good horse.

werite him off at your peril.

I agree HH.

I for one won't desert him in the July - luck comes and goes but class is forever!
