I can NOT SEE SILVER MOUNTAIN winning over that 1,000m sprint......... surely they'll go too quick for her.
as is the case with S.M. she normally comes from far off the pace, I can't see it happening over the sprint......ACACIAWOOD i'll be with.

another one always coming FROM FAR OFF THEM - HERNANDO'S PROMISE ....... I won't back this one again........... always comes from 20L off them....... needs a different jock on top as well....woodlands forest might do the trick.
early DOUBLE - WOODLAND'S PROMISE - ACACIAWOOD ( get my drift ! ) 15 / 1 A.T.C.

Winter Guineas - Our Mate Art 6/1, African Night Sky 15/2
Not confident picks like Elusive Silva last weekend. Very open race and both my picks have terrible draws.
Our Mate Art had a nice comeback run LTO where he showed some of his old ability. Gelding seems to have sorted out his issues. He's been prepared for this race so will be at his peak. Just needs luck in running from that draw and he should be right there at the business end.
African Night Sky has always been rated by the Snaith stable. Was a bit disappointing on Met Day where he was fancied to do much better. Going with the opinion that he needed that last run a bit and should have come on. Again, will need tons of luck from draw 14 but he has a nice turn of foot which could come into play late on.

Race 1: Romantic Crusade ran inexplicably badly last time. We have gone back to 1000m and hopefully she can build on the form of her two promising first runs. Domeyer has opted to ride Public Prosecutor so that should be respected. Lacerta has good form over this trip and should go close. Feyd'herbe is on Township Melody so another to consider. A race to tread carefully.
Race 2: Fresnaye looks the one to beat. Queen Moira, Delia's Delight and Merysagos to fill the quartet.
Race 3: Love Triangle is coming along the right way and should enjoy the extra if not green on the bend. We are hoping he can win. Tripple Explosion ran a better race last time and is our main danger. Mini Loushe had good earlier form and should be respected. Proud Dynasty and Top Gere could build on fair debuts.
Race 4: Hernando's Promise can never be ignored but he continues to disappoint. This is quite a weak field. Woodland Forest has fair form. Q Tibb has improved with each start and could be the right one if seeing out the trip.

If not badly outpaced, Silver Mountain will put this field to sleep Elvis. That fact that she races fairly handy bodes well considering this is not the upper echelons of sprinters.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Race 5: My original selection has been scratched. Silver Mountain has the class, but 1000m is short for her and this is presumably a prep run. Hoist the Mast is capable at best but still has a way to go to recapture her 2016 form. There is little between Acaciawood and South Side. I think one either banks SM on the basis of her class, or else goes the field.
Race 6: We have Sylvanite and Step Out running. Both are out at the weights but are improving sorts. Step Out prefers further and Sylvanite has a wide draw to contend with. If either can run a place I will be thrilled. In the Choice Carriers over this trip, Whose that Girl ran just two lengths behind the fillies that are contesting the KZN Fillies Guineas next week, and is the one to beat if she can reproduce that. Her stable companions have wide draws, but are both useful fillies and the Bass-Robinson yard have a very strong hand. There is not much between Anneline and Primrose Lane and they could earn a cheque from nice draws. There are a few possible improvers, but hard to see any of them winning here.
Race 7: A case can be made for all of numbers 1-6. I am going with Elevated ew to upset the big yards, but all 6 for the exotics.
Race 8: Icon King keeps improving and goes for his 4th successive win and he could be worth following again. Cream Soda Green has been handed a lifeline by the handicapper with a further 8 point drop despite a fair effort last time. If fit, he can easily spring a surprise here. Streak of Silver is consistent and should be respected.

Bass comments on Our mate art seemed very positive.
I think Newlands might surprise the other Mayfair horses if he doesn't lose ground at the start.
Elevated always game.

Winter Guineas is a very interesting contest. Marcus is on Turbulent Air despite I Travel Light and Newlands having better form. His choice may be influenced by the trip and fitness- both the other Mayfair runners look suited to a bit further and have not run since Met day, whereas 1600m seems his best trip and he had a nice prep run 4 weeks ago. Ramsden is capable of bringing horses out fit after a break, and the feature horses have had access to Kenilworth for gallops, so Marcus may not be on the right one this time.
The official MRs again are misleading. I Travel Light is significantly better than his 87 based on his runs behind William Longsword- in the Guineas he ran 96 (Elevated 99 just 1.5L ahead) and in the Sales race a bit better than that at about 100. Similarly, African Night Sky is much better than his 91- I make him a 98.
Our Mate Art looked something special earlier but became coltish and the gelding could result in huge improvement. He has had the benefit of a prep run and despite the draw must be a serious runner.
Elevated ran a good 4th in the Guineas without threatening the top two- if he can reproduce that run he is in with a big shout. He flopped in the Derby but that run can be ignored. He ran in the same prep run as African Night Sky, Turbulent Air and Our Mate Art giving them all weight and he should be cherry ripe today.
For quartets I will just box 1-6.
My selection
1 Elevated
2 I Travel Light
3 African Night Sky
4 Our Mate Art
5 Newlands
6 Turbulent Air

Two important scratchings - Fresnaye race 2 and Icon King race 8.
In Race 8 I am going with Cream Soda Green at the weights, after the comment by H C that he gave him a gallop at Kenilworth two weeks ago
