Racing scampsters

Thought I must ask you guys if anyone participated in this betting extravaganza in the early 1990s. A Mr Peter Upsall from Maritzburg advertised around SA how with discipline and info you could make some good money in the racing game .

For a fee of 25 % of your winnings he would administer the pool and place the bets . Now his model was a pretty good one . He believed that he had to be a sure winner with 5 bullets in his gun to bet with . This was his model . He would use the double up method and back nothing under evens . The bets would all be in the first few races which are maiden and juvenile Races never in the latter races . If you wanted a R 100 bet you would have to transfer him R3100. He would bet your R 100 as 1st bet . If that lost no more bets for the day unless he had another sure bet in the early races . Next meeting R 200 on say that lost . Following bet now your 3rd for R400 wins . He takes 25% pays you the winnings and you back to your 5 bet capital R 3100.
This worked extremely well for Mr Upsall and money flowed from around the country into his account as punters were happy getting weekly dividends .

Here's the kicker . Punters around the country got a message saying that there was a special bet earmarked for Turf in 2 weeks time and the limit was R1000 per client . He wouldn't tell you the name as he didn't want the price taken etc . The special bet was now on and punters waited for sat 5.30'to hear the news . Mr Upsalls news was that the special bet was off and refunds in your bank account . They found rats in the stable Mr Upsall said and the horse had a restless night there would be another day .

Two weeks later ( now the 5 bet double up rule was still going well after some months and Mr Upsall had built credibility with punters around SA for his disciplined returns they were getting .
The Special is on again . Maximum of R1500 now . Well the punters couldn't get their wallets out fast enough to send him their money for the special bet .

I warned some guys that it was a matter of time before he would pull the plug on punters around SA it was just snowballing and he must have been holding hundreds of thousands then .

Come sat night of the special bet at 5.30'the news came out that the special bet lost and the pool had misfired in the 5 th bet so all monies was gone .
If you had joined in the beginning you would have done okay and he kept going for a few months.

Just thought I would share this with you . Have never heard of the man since then but maybe one of you have crossed his path and maybe even invested in this .
