Seems another tricky day - with a number of weak pivots to work around.
Race 1: Swing Vote should have the measure of this field – but you have to be concerned that a horse couldn’t crack it’s maiden in 10 runs and and is doing nothing different today. The Dark horse is Sardius which tried this trip twice early in his career without success and has been racing shorter of late, Genesis – debutant should find it difficult to beat swing vote here, unless he’s something special.
Race 2: This is a really weak field and SOFII’S MIESQUE was strongly fancied lto – reportedly not striding out after that race. - I am Titanium set’s the benchmark for the exposed runners – and Go Thuli Go, Piccadilly Square and Queensbury Square will have to show multitudes of improvement to beat that one. SOFII’S MIESQUE is worth a chance if her problems are sorted – but it’s a weak field and anything could improve to win here.
Race 3: On class Carmalita should be a shock loser, and looks set to improve further. The only slight concern would be coming back to 1000m – but looks to have the class to deal with this field. If this one doesn’t win then anything else in the field can.
Race 4: Another weak field with King Of Delta looking the most promising . Torio lake could produce a surprise, was supported somewhat on debut on the greyville polytrack, but now makes local debut on the turf. Watch this one – since it does seem a rather weak field.
Race 5: Bets have to be structured around Shogun – and being rested he might be in need. Starret city, you can draw a line through last two runs – and has the most potential to get past Shogun if he’s not 100%. Gone Baby Gone and National Key are the logical place contenders behind these two. It’s really hard to assess what can be expected from Pilou – on all exposed form, has a lot of work to do – but the nature of winning margins could suggest vast improvement under this test, and to a lesser degree the same could be said for nephrite. With shogun rested there are a number of potential outcomes to this race if shogun doesn’t win it
Race 6: There are a few here that are out to beat Polar Secret which is in form. - Offhand they will need to show a lot of improvement – Penny From Heaven is two times the class of the field and on the back of this might improve , I prefer Braxton over that one – but each has their strengths – Chapati makes the most appeal of the rest and due a win for the new stable. Lady Negra and Shelly must have claims and even angel of light could be in the shake up. Dark horse is Juba – not a very successful stable but was backed in to 5’s from 20/1 lto – This is not a strong field , on form Polar Secret should win – only Penny From Heaven has any claim to making the above average improvement required to beat Polar Secret. But may need to go wide due to poor quality runners.
Race 7: Alpine Glacier makes the most appeal here, with All Night Flight’s connections looking to use the apprentice allowance to make up the small difference between the two. With Yeni up, this should counteract the apprentice allowance. Cathedral County looks to have a lot to do – although beating All Night Flight lto – the latter experienced some trouble around the 400m mark, falling back down the field, and then rallying again to just be beaten by cathedral country. This should be close between Alpine Glacier and All Night Flight which counts on the apprentice allowance and the favourable draw at 8. Cathedral County does have some class though, and could surprise us.
Race 8: Initially appears a wide open race with a degenerate field of horses engaged here. Watch the market – and follow well supported debutants

I am not exaggerating - I see Interbet shortened Carmalita because 8 rands to 10 rands was laid.

1. Swing vote
2. Soffii.s miesque
3. Caramalita
4. Torio lake
5. Shogun
6. Polar secret
7.Alpine Glacier.
Read the summary since nothing here with confidence. I have only had an interest in swing vote and caramalita..be careful of swing vote if there is no market support.
