on his toes in the parade ring (bouncing on his toes) so instead of being calm and relaxed the horse is ''hyper-active''

7 years 9 months ago.....interesting as I also heard one of the TT presenters say this......I'm actually flummoxed....as when horses show a keenness to participate and get turned on they generally are displaying their wellness by getting up on their toes(font edge of hooves) hot to trot Id call it and by doing so they are not expending as much energy as one would think..hyperactivity or nervousness is displayed completely differently as then a horse will get up on the toes but it will not resemble a sharp trotting action but more like a skipping action ...however if they tear down to the start then a different story....as the energy may have been expended....I would strive to have horses on their toes and be keen than have them so switched off they fall asleep in the race.... :oops:mydada wrote:Muhtiman wrote:....describe what is meant....on his toes going down to post.....on his toes in the parade ring...what action is the horse displaying are you referring to.... :huh:mydada wrote:isMuhtiman wrote:.....why is this a negative... :huh:mydada wrote:Loopy Logic wrote: Starcraft Prince at 13's presents nice value here

Must Say Turfontein is one track I cannot fathom - never have done well here,
While race times are only a small part of the puzzle , if you have your horse fit and make a true effort - an individual horse should consistently run around the same times at specific distances on a specific track - granted that this is largely impacted by pace. Of course being rested, and where the horse is in it's form cycle will also impact this, as well as weight.
What really astounds me is the number of races won by well backed horses, in a time lengths slower than anything else in the field has ever run. - this is a phenomena peculiar to Turfontein, or perhaps Gauteng - and Kimberley. - it is understandable and expected these days that very routes are run at true pace - but this phenomena is clearly evident , even over sprints at this track --- Yes, there is a true and a false pace even in sprints --- but really something I need to delve into more.
Any ideas?

Turffontein, Greyville, Scottsville and Kenilworth are the only tracks where my bigger bets are.
Of those, Kenilworth is by far my most profitable and I wish I could just stick to just betting there but alas...you know how it goes.
The other three all have its swings and roundabouts but more so to do with the quality of field at the moment. Should all change here at Turffies come feature race time.

Yes, the quality of the fields at the moment would seem to be a key factor - since when we get to a point that the time on the clock in a race is meaningless - that wouldn't be racing?
Could there also be some huge inconsistencies in the track surface - why they keep shutting down one track, and moving to another center while trying to repair the surfaces.
It still a bit hard to swallow for example an 1160 race being won in 70s by a well backed first timer when everything in the field has lowered that number on numerous occasions. I am quite well versed in the concept of track variant - but get the impression that the variances here are just too erratic, and wide.
