You are joking aren't you? What about the combined use of the back straight then? Grass or sand? Why do you want a sand track? It is basically physically impossible anyway. Will then have even less people on course and punting as it would be a second Kimberly!MHO.

Thanks for your input Craig
The issue with a straight can be managed and I'm not sure how physically impossible it is?
Plenty trainers with sand horses that might not find going to Kimberley practical for a variety of reasons but there is definitely a niche and of course in the right hands could do wonders
Not impossible to see a carnival coming out of that and it certainly will be a crowd puller,Of course it will cost a bit but hey you guys have the money from the Clairwood sale don't you?

The difference is I can back up what I pen. You can't. Sand track at Scottsville? Makes more sense to put poly in Kimberley.

Our horse population needs a sand track ! The kimberly sand track is top class !!!! You can't blame the track for the results in kimberly .
The operators messed up with the vaal sand track . All they had to do was use the same sand used at flamingo .
Perhaps they should have kept the vaal sand(using the same sand as flamingo) and they should have put in a polytrack at Turfontein inside . This seems logical to me .

.....the "sand" at Kimberley is actually a plowed up mielie field.....my father trained from a private facility with a similar dark red soil and a also previous "mielie" field....the track was easy to plow and maintain with a tractor pulling a medium spiked harrow.....now if sand is natural occurring in a area like Flamingo Park....then no problem....the costs come in in transporting sand like they did at the Vaal who did not learn from the very early Bloemfontien sand track which was closed in the early 80's as they could no longer maintain it either.....so learning from past mistakes....what were we thinking...

Will pull in a crowd
A big no no for Pmb.
Will be more suited at the Durban beachfront, Umhlanga or possibly Ballito. Natural resources are available at all 3 areas and ofcourse huge crowds during holiday season.
LOL
