Scotia on the Met (Swartvlei edition)

Good morning all

I always enjoy, big race days and when we got an invite to a close friends 60th party, which coincides with the Met!!!!
Had to make the call and say "we would love to come"

So sorry, this year no parade ring pics of the horses and dolly birds.

They stay in Knysna and had chosen a place called Swartvlei equestrian Centre ?

We hired a car from George and googled where the place was, it certainly was not the easiest place to find and as we drove for miles on a dirt road I kept thinking, I bet no wifi or tv this weekend?

Well to my surprise when we reached our destination, we found a little gem, our chalet was named Jet Master, as were the other cottages named after some SA racing greats.
The main house has a full snooker table, nice bar and braai facilities plus a sound system that The Who would have been proud off.

The better news was that all the rooms have 239, lets be fair, where ever you travel, to hotels etc ( with exception of KZN) this was a rare find for the harden punter.

Looking at the numerous racing pics I gather the place belongs to Braam van Huyssteen and it's certainly not "takkie" although I might have preferred a pitch at the track this was superb second box.

As far as punting, we (zoro and myself) were one leg out pick6 and gave our normal contribution but have enough in the kitty for a few of the oysters in this lovely part of the planet.

The people and staff here are really friendly and there is a superb restaurant on the dam with a first class wine tasting, so time for one last sitting before back to normality.

Good punting

PS just been told that Miss Universe is visiting her home town of Sedgefield today, so I might just manage a "dolly bird" pic......
