A highlight on the Cape social and racing calendar has got to be the annual Cape Town Prawn Festival held at Kenilworth Racecourse. A day which promises plenty of fresh seafood, live entertainment, and doing what they do best- at an exceptionally fast pace- are the Cape’s finest racehorses on Saturday 24th February.

WHAT CAN ONE EXPECT ON THE DAY

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT with live DJ- Mark Grange, and the legendary Cape Minstrels, you will be spellbound with entertainment while enjoying your afternoon, basking in the glorious sun on the rolling lawns of Kenilworth Racecourse. And of course, the little ones are entertained through - a soft play area for toddlers (which includes child minders), brought to you by DIPS, jumping castles and Mark- the tattoo guy (temporary tattoos).

DELICIOUS VARIATIONS OF SEAFOOD from various "Cape Town Food Trucks" will be available with a main seafood offering from Harbour Lights of Calamari, Fish, Prawn Curry, Paella and Seafood. All meals served with sides of rice or chips and a selection of sauces. For the folk that are not too keen on crustaceans, there are other Wraps, Burgers, Pizza, Chip & Dip, Ice Cream and Pop Corn. Coffee barista’s and of course a fully stocked bar are available.

What’s a day at Kenilworth Racecourse without some world class HORSERACING and herein lies the trump card. The Vasco Prix Du Cap (Grade 3) and Listed Jetmaster Stakes are just 2 of the 9 races to be held on the day and these two races combined amount to R400, 000 of the R966, 000 in stakes to be paid out. We may just get to see some of the equine heroes of the January race meetings come galloping down the straight.



As we are renowned for giveaways, stand a chance to win R70 000 worth of GIVEAWAYS, with the cherry on the top being a grand prize for one lucky person to win R30 000 in household appliances, be sure to complete the entry forms provided throughout the racecourse.

....the SP headline Prawn & Lawn.....is a bit off putting....a play on words yes....but for non Capetonians.....a Lawn or Mole Crickets are called Parktown Prawns ..... :S

What a nice day out this will be for those lucky enough to attend. Munching on those prawns with those beautiful trees next to the main stand to keep the sun off your back, oh hold that thought.

Will be in Cape Town for the Mystico sale the following day, hopefully we'll get to Kenilworth.
