Let's hear your thoughts and insights to learn for the future - there are many more instances but for an example how has the last race at Greyville Kissable gets the better of Traces

Let me start by saying that I had TRACES as my strong 1st choice...but in this race I backed 3 horses. The 3,5 and 9. The 5 Kissable was only my 5th pick, but to me a MASSIVE overlay today.

Back in the day when starting out...I learned the equation that all form gurus practice daily...Horse A beats Horse B by 1L so next time when there is a 'swing in the weights' horse B should win. That is the FACT of form studying...ask any1!!! That's how it is. I believed it,I lived by it. But than LOTS and LOTS of cases like this exact race happened. And to be honest I would do research on the topic till I was blue in the face. I couldn't find answers, coz everyday everywhere you hear Horse A beat Horse B by 2L but is kegs better off ect. So 2yrs ago I started with HK racing....here's what it thought it...

PACE MAKES THE RACE. PACE MAKES THE RACE...PACE MAKES THE RACE!!!!

Watch the 1st 300-400m of both races and it should be quite obvious why Kissable won. And yes I also thought Traces will reverse the form...due to his wide trip, hanging in and not settling and the fact that he is still improving...I thought he will beat K...but I also knew K RAN AN ABSOLUTE CRACKER that last run...and the 1st 400m of both races will show why...I had Kissable as a 4/1 shot...10/1 was just crazy.

That's the answer I can give you...I'm no expert on Sa racing bt I understand enough of times to be certain times triumph over 'form' any day. In the past HK season there's several examples of what happened in the race...in kranji aswell...where the times will tell the story

,,,,,this horse Traces has only one eye....needs to be placed carefully....around the bend and under lights....did well under the circumstances....but could not have Kissable....tends to be a bit in and out....but ran another absolute cracker....race was a form result even though the betting was all wrong....

Heard on the July Day TV panel that Shea jokingly said that "Traces only has one eye and that Jeff (Lloyd) has the other"... (This is not my joke)

My pre race comment on the thread was that Kissable, winter blues and Billy Silver would finish in front of traces...and I wasn't far off . That's just from observation of form and the likely hood on the Greyville poly. Doesn't need any conspiracy .

IMO it can't be rigged to win but it's easy to make a horse lose. That's why we don't have betfair in this country.Imagine the skulduggery that will go on in this country if betfair was legal here.Just check out the betting drifts in the UK and you will see the non triers.

The simple answer is if it was so EASY to fix races why on earth would any trainer bother with owners? Buy the horse, train the horse, get the best price without sharing info with owners and their friends and zero aggravation... yes there are dubious races every week but anyone that has owned a horse will tell you how difficult it is to win a race

And if you believe it's a game for insiders just take a drive out to training tracks and see how many trainers are battling just to break even and those struggling jocks who if they knew race results before the time would surely find a punter to put a wad on so they could have a free slice and the grooms who work the horses yet can't punt their way out of poverty but would rather risk employment to strike for a menial wage increase or the tote operators that take bets in the owners and trainers -surely they could just follow the "rigged" money in each race and retire
