we have two tracks at the vaal and two at Turfies are we really that screwed that we need to race on one track in 4 day in such a short period of time.
can the track hold up?
will we see more injuries to horses ?
jockey safety?
This is the result of poor and/or deliberate mismanagement.
When the Vaal sand closed questions were raised as to the alternates should this situation arise. People like Louis Goosen and others voiced their concerns about the lack of a plan B. These concerns were all ignored and the only plan B available is to run on an already overworked inside Turffies track.
If you have any doubt about the lack of commitment to local racing from Phumelela, the cutting back of track staff whilst in the midst of this problem should clarify matters. Money is the only thing that motivates Phumelela.
Where have the RA been in all of this? I will answer my own question. They are In Phumelela's back pocket, exactly where they have always been since Larry got appointed by Jooste. Follow the dots.
......ever so typical of the reactive management style endemic to the operator.....and again all of it a direct result of poor planning.....let them eat cake..and then they can try make a plan to try rectify the inner track after it has taken a severe beating......:S
