The superbly bred and well performed Danon Platina will become the first son of legendary racehorse and sire Deep Impact to take up stud duties in South Africa when he retires to Mauritzfontein for 2019.

Danon Platina was Japan’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2014 when the striking grey won three of his four races.

He scored his most notable win at two in the G1 Asahi Futurity Stakes, where Danon Platina scored a three parts of a length win over an 18 horse field –with third place finisher Clarity Sky going on to win the G1 NHK Mile Cup the following year.

In total, he won or placed in nine of 14 outings, and banked ¥195,823,000 in prize money.

Danon Platina’s Japanese Triple Crown winning sire Deep Impact is one of the world’s greatest and most commercially successful stallions.

The son of US Horse Of The Year and legendary sire Sunday Silence has been champion sire in Japan seven times, and has headed the Japanese Leading Sires of 2YOs list eight times.

Deep Impact’s 120 plus stakes winners to date are headed by outstanding international Gr1 winners Saxon Warrior (now standing at Coolmore), Study Of Man, Beauty Parlour, A Shin Hikari, Real Impact, Gentildonna, Tosen Stardom, Real Steel, and Vivlos, and his progeny have more than $578 million!

The champion (he won not only the Triple Crown but also the Japan Cup) was Horse Of The Year in Japan in both 2005 and 2006 and Deep Impact has an official stud fee of ¥40,000,000!

Deep Impact’s sire Sunday Silence was a phenomenal stallion who was Champion Sire in Japan 13 times and Champion Sire of 2YOs in Japan 11 times. His 171 stakes winners included the successful sires Heart’s Cry, Fuji Kiseki, Hat Trick (whose son Dabirsim was Champion First Crop Sire in France in 2017) and Stay Gold.

Danon Platina also hails from a stellar female line. He is out of the Badeelah –a daughter of outstanding US sire Unbridled’s Song and Gr1 La Brea Stakes winner Magical Allure, a granddaughter of Seattle Slew.

His broodmare sire Unbridled’s Song, whose 110 plus stakes winners include six Breeders’ Cup winners, has been a superb maternal grandsire-with Unbridled’s Song daughters having produced more than 150 stakes winners to date, including Breeders’ Cup Mile hero Tourist and the G1 winning half-brothers Carpe Diem and J.B.’s Thunder.
