GOLDCIRCLE FEATURE STAKES - WOW

On 4th May i highlighted the crappy stakes offered in the S.A. FILLIES NURSERY GR 2 ( 350,000 offered in 2003 - 400,000 offered 16 years later in 2019 ) held @ TURFFONTEIN.

This amounted to a PATHETIC 14,3 % increase in 13 years :evil:

Now in 2003 i was fortunate to have a share in LET'S ROCK 'N ROLL -with Paul Matchett. He won the THEN - GOLDEN HORSE CASINO SPRINT GR 1 at Scottsville. STAKE OFFERED 400,000

Now the equivalent race was run yesterday @ Scottsville - THE TSOGO SUN SPRINT GR 1. - STAKE OFFERED YESTERDAY....... wait for it 1 MILLION RAND a HEFTY 150% INCREASE IN STAKES - if my maths is correct !

Now I am not talking about Durban's PREMIER RACE which is the - DURBAN JULY, but i am talking about ordinary GR 1 races.

How is it that GOLD CIRCLE country can offer these sort of stakes - but up north in P country - we have crappy increases in their Gr 2 race.

something doesn't gell - & generally these days, it is NOT cost effective to owning horses anymore - certainly not ( in P country ) with comparing stake money to current trainer & upkeep costs.

GOLD CIRCLE is doing something RIGHT - HAT'S OFF TO U LOT.

I think the stakes are standard rates all over the country now
