Our small syndicate has unfortunately not felt the effect of a stake reduction but what is killing us is the insane VET bills.
We had an earlier thread saying that the old school trainers were able to do many vet related functions in house.
They would appear to have total control over what they charge and no racing body is able to intervene.
I did contact Vee and it does not fall under the NHRA.
Bottom line, its becoming more difficult to attract people into racing these days.
Ps it was never easy in the past but certainly driving small owners and syndication away from game.
Where are the saviours with the action plans?
Who is taking the initiative to turn the game around?
Who do we contact to get involved?

Oscar its absurd to have a stakes reduction how much more must the owners pay.The "Fat Cats"controlling the industry should make a plan to keep the game alive instead of chasing away the owners, and as for these astronomical vet bills its only a matter of time before the smaller owners call it a day.Vets are also running amok and need to be checked by a controlling board. The industries under pressure and that's the reason why.

If P and their gang of sub structures want to get buy in from the barbarians at their gates, they need to communicate way better.
ABC platform is the perfect platform for the communication. Admin could easily create topics where we cant post or be critical if they want to communicate.
They could run surveys on the platform
They could direct their customers to ABC so as to get buy in to the process.
Yes from time to time they will take flac. generally well deserved flac in my opinion.
ABC is not beholden to a sponsor or to P so would be seen as a neutral platform
if P don't start communicating with the masses in a timely and respectful manner very shortly there boat SA RACING will not recover.

Would have to think the lack of communication is because they are no further forward
Why not increase the stakes and race less? 5 times a week?

Because Bob they are going to reduce stakes and remove Kimberley. Then they going to sell off more assets to pay their absorbent wages, then they going to bet on international races more and SA less. THEN Racing is a thing of the past as we know it.
The industry needs people like you and me who can think latterly and not be swayed by buddies and looking after their own jobs!!

The stakes reduction is a big pill to swallow, but given the Economy, it is probably inevitable, if you are a realist. The real problem is not just the reduction in stakes, but also the increase in costs, the narrowing of the gap...
And Dave Scott is 100 percent correct. The whole story on the Vet bills needs to be told. This is nothing but evil. I have driven this fight and have suffered the consequences. It is the biggest load of rubbish, the "it's not us" stories.
Let it be known that I treated my Owners horses for years, without bills to them . The new Vet friendly rules now prohibit this and my hands are tied, because I am a stickler for the rules.
I CHALLENGE Vee Moodley and the NHRA vets and their accomplices to a public debate on the issue. Can ABC set this up?
I must write the full story of this corruption, sometime, though....
