RACE 1 :

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 3 and 4 - FIRST KNIGHT & MASTER G : First Knight is always thereabouts, he is working well and he should be right there. Hoping for improvement from Master G.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 5 - NEWS ALERT : He improved in his last up to the mile, he will enjoy even further here and can place.
ALAN GREEFF - Number 6 - IN THE SKY : She has a winning chance.
TARA LAING - Number 7 - DEEP RIVER WOMAN : She has her first run for the yard, she relocates from KZN with fair form and is familiar with the Poly so although taking on the boys is not ideal, she does have a chance.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 8 - LUNCHPACK : She ran on beautifully in her last up in trip. She does take on the boys but is well drawn and the extra again will suit.
RACE 2 :

• SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 2, 4 and 7 - MARGOT FONTEYN, WYLIE’S FLAME & ANGEL JOLEE : Margot Fonteyn compounded in her last. I did ease off her, so she could just need this. Wylie’s Flame is distance suited, her last was a great win but she does take on stronger. Angel Jolee ran well in her last, she tries further, I do think it will suit, she is well drawn and can run well.
• GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1, 5 and 9 - CLOSE TO MY HEART, STEADY BREEZE & NEVERTHELESS : Close to my Heart is down in class and has a chance. Steady Breeze tries further. Nevertheless ran out a good win in her last over course and distance, she is against stronger here.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 10, 11 and 12 - BOLDNESS, HOPEFUL & SETTLEMENT DAY : Boldness ran under in her last, she can do better. Hoping for improvement from Hopeful and Settlement Day.
RACE 3 :

• TARA LAING - Number 1 - PALO ALTO : He won his last and was penalized quite harshly, but the field has been divided so there is only nine runners and he has definitely got a chance at following up.
• SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 3 and 5 - FINLEY HILL & THE GOON SHOW : Finley Hill is in good form, he is well suited back up in trip and has a chance gain. The Goon Show ran a very nice last race. He found a lot of traffic up the home straight and fit and well, can get closer.
GRANT PADDOCK - Number 9 - NINJINSKY’S SON : He is coming back off a break, his work is good, but he could just need this.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 2 - TITUS : He always tries and being up to the 1900m will suit, he can place.
RACE 4 :

• GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 3, 4 and 7 - TOM ‘N JERRY, SAROO & CONQUERING KING : Tom ‘n Jerry is working well and should be thereabouts. Saroo has his first run in handicap company. Improvement is expected from Conquering King.
• JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 8 - SAMAR : He has been disappointing, he works so well at home. Really hoping he can start bringing his work to course.
SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 5 and 6 - TARZAN & GREAT CRUSADE : It is a learning curve with Tarzan who tries further, his breeding does suggest that he will enjoy it and if so he can give a good account of himself. Great Crusade was disappointing in his last and I am hoping he can regain his form.
RACE 5 :
1st four selections

• SHARON KOTZEN - Number 1 - RECONAISSANCE : He ran a great local debut last time out. He did over race with the blinkers on, so I have opted to take them off here. The concern is that he has his second run after a long lay off, but he is working well and can be a danger.
• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 6 and 9 - DEEPSTON & EDMONDA : Deepston is well rated, races off fair Cape form and is a runner. Edmonda is best weighted in the line up and will be better back in trip.
GAVIN SMITH - Number 2 - KINGSMAN : He is holding form nicely and will enjoy the extra.
GRANT PADDOCK - Number 3 - JURIST : He ran a good post maiden in his last, the 1400m could be sharp but he can place.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 4 - JADEED : He was disappointing in his last and can do better.
RACE 6 :
1st four selections

• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1, 2 and 3 - ELUSIVE DIVA, MISS JACKSONVILLE & BERNARDO : I’ve freshened Elusive Diva up, she is better than her last and loves course and distance. Miss Jacksonville is temperamental, but if all goes well she does have a winning chance. Bernardo tries blinkers and can earn.
• TARA LAING - Number 6 - ZABIVAKA : He has been finding the 1000m on the sharp side so we’re trying the 1300m and from a good draw he must have a good chance.
GRANT PADDOCK - Number 8 - BURNT ROCK : He is holding form well, loves track and trip and should be involved.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 5 and 7 - DUKE OF HAZARD & EMERITO : Duke of Hazard over raced in his last and improvement is expected. Emerito tries blinkers and I am hoping for improvement.
RACE 7 :
1st four selections

• DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Number 1 - BARBARELLA NIGHTS : He’ll run well, Louis knows him and he loves the 1000m trip.
• GAVIN SMITH - Number 5 - EXALTATION : He ran a good race behind a horse with decent Cape form in his last and should be there again.
ALAN GREEFF - Number 2 - QUEEN OF THE ROSES : She is improved in her last and hopefully she can build on that.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 3 and 9 - BOUNTIFUL STRENGTH & SHADOW CATCHER : Bountiful Strength has run two good races for the yard and will be there again. Shadow Catcher needed his last and hoping that he can get closer.
RACE 8 :
1st four selections

• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1, 2 and 5 - CLIFTON BEACH, I LOVE MAMBO & BLACK GARDENIA : Clifton Beach is better than her last. I love Mambo races off two wins and can follow up. Black Gardenia tries blinkers and I am hoping for improvement.
• GAVIN SMITH - Number 6 - VIVA LE BLEU : She is holding form well, but the draw is a concern.
GRANT PADDOCK - Number 7 - INTHEPURPLERAIN : She is working well, drawn neatly and can run into quartets.
TARA LAING - Number 8 - THOKZINE : She has been very disappointing and we are just hoping for improvement.
DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Numbers 10 and 11 - LADY LIVIA & FURLA : Lady Livia had excuses for her last, she can do better. Furla ran very well in her last and hopefully she can back it up.
