Vaal

Race 1

Gokhan Terzi
No 9 Green Emerald - Will be green and needs further
Clinton Binda
No 10 Hollyrider - Will need the run
Corne Spies
No 11 Mighty Captain - May run green, hoping to place
Geoff Woodruff
No 15 Secret Glider - Looking for much further, will need the run
Stephanus Botha
No 3 Forbe's Quarry - I have removed the blinkers and I'm expecting a
better run from him
Ashley/Andrew Fortune
No 2 Soul Connection - He's is still a bit weak but must have a fair
each-way chance
Paul Peter
No 12 Oom Jim - Has a place chance

Race 2

Ashley/Andrew Fortune
No 6 Capetown Affair - He's trying 2000 meters for the first time but
if he stays, he should be a runner
Corne Spies
No 9 Captain Morgane - Tries further, could sneak a place
No 1 Imperial Ruby - In form, should finish in the money
No 8 Tyrells Bullet - Improving, could place
No 10 Zombie - Seems held by Tyrells Bullet

Race 3

Robbie Sage
No 10 Muleta - Will need the experience
Ashley/Andrew Fortune
No 9 Curious Mind - Should need another run
No 5 Paschals Samore - Trying blinkers, hoping to place
No 3 Single Red Rose - Trying blinkers, hoping to place

Race 4

Stephanus Botha
No 3 Movie Show - Will need the run
Brett Webber
No 8 Britannia Queen - Too short, will need the run
Ashley/Andrew Fortune
No 1 Before The Dawn - Doing nicely at home, hoping to place
Corne Spies
No 6 Miss Khalifa - Can again finish in the money
Diane Stenger
No 2 Arikel - Jockey suits her, should be in the shake-up
Gerald Walker
No 10 Moggie Brown - She missed the break in her last race. She is
well and I'm expecting a decent run from her

Race 5

Corne Spies
No 11 What You Are - She's having her first run back from the Cape and
we're hoping for a nice run
Brett Warren
No 12 Smoke - He ran a cracking race last time and a repeat of that
run should see him go close here
Paul Peter
No 2 Benji - Working well and expecting another big run

Race 6

Fabian Habib
No 9 Waqaas - He takes on a competitive filed but is fit and well and
has a strong each-way chance

Race 7

Paul Peter
No 2 Destiny's Game - Working well, good each-way chance
Fabian Habib
No 6 Now You See Me - She seems better suited to racing around a turn
but is fit and well and has a good each-way chance

Race 8

Ashley/Andrew Fortune
No 5 Annetjie - Blinkers off, hoping to place
No 9 Tahitian Orana - Holding form and from a nice draw must have an
each-way chance
Paul Peter
No 12 Loralei - She's having her first run out of maiden company. Just
hoping for a place
Fabian Habib
No 6 Zephira Rain - She needed her last run and can be a bit quirky
but if she behaves on the day, she has a place chance

Got to agree - very tough - which probably means there will be no real upsets - but also no obvious bankers - thoughts:

R1: Weakish - Soul Connection has been thereabouts and rates the one to beat imo with Fists of Fire the immediate danger - surely these two should suffice for the BP

R2: Interesting - Christopher Robin my first choice if he is ready to go after Tuesday - seem well weighted here - Imperial Ruby will be catching late and is the main danger imo - two roughies from the Spies stable to consider is Tyrell's Bullet, who is weighted to turn the tables with IR, and Bouncing Tigger if he stays

R3: Showdown Kid has found support in the betting market, and imo does not have to be too good to beat these; Persica ran almost 6 lengths behind the winner in her 2nd run after a fair debut in a work riders' race - so not sure what to make of her; Single Red Rose often in the money, but clearly no star - perhaps Lady Scarletina can surprise if the inside draw is not that big a factor

R4: Very tough F&M handicap - Arikel looks fair value at the odds, but many others to consider; I'm going wide

R5: Progress Plate complicated by the fact that those best in at the weights are either returning from a break, or appear to be better over more ground (or both) or off form (Mr Whatson); I do like a roughie in the form of Aristachus - may not have like the soft going in his last start, and looks competitive on his previous form; Benji once ran less than a length behind Celtic Sea giving her weight, so a definite inclusion - probably still improving in his 3rd start after a break and could again hold those he beat last time; Mythical Bolt not the most consistent, but could feature at best if the draw is not too much of a problem

R6: I think Throng looks the value here, and if not today, he will probably be dropped by the handicapper and should then go very close next time; Rooi Tom and Waqaas the main dangers imo

R7: F&M Handicap - not clear cut - obvious ones seem to be Now You See Me and Circle of Latitude - but only Jay Bomb and Movie Award look to have no chance

R8: Oh Mercy Me in form and the closest thing to a banker one can find today; Loralei could be anything and probably the main danger from Tahitian Orana and Elegancia

Enjoy B)
