Rule 4.2.18 or 4.2.12

4.2.18 within their discretion to take such decisions and actions as they deem necessary to ensure that RACES are conducted in a manner which safeguards the interests of all individuals and PERSONS present at the RACE COURSE. Such decisions will include the abandonment of a RACE/RACE MEETING, or any part thereof.

OR

4.2.12 to withdraw any HORSE from any RACE, on the recommendation of a licensed veterinary surgeon, that the HORSE is unfit because of disease, infirmity, unsoundness, untrained condition, savageness, unreliable temper, or any other cause which in their opinion may render such HORSE a danger or source of danger or interference to other HORSES or PERSONS taking part in that RACE or to other individuals or PERSONS present at the RACE COURSE;

I personally would have used Rule 4.2.12 but trainer M Mahiakola runners have been scratched today after his stable was raided and neglected horses were found

I am so pleased. He talks a big game and is aiming high – but with his drive and passion, the world is his oyster. And with these powerful businessmen behind him and believing in him, who knows where he could go?”

Mike Miller summed it up well: “He’s a hard worker and has the gift of the gab, which is half the battle in this game.”

The father of two says that his success will be an opportunity for him to encourage other young black people to join the sport.
“They say you cannot get advice from people unless they have made it, so once I’ve made it, then I will be a living testimony. They will follow my path.”

Hmmmm a lot could be said but its probably prudent to leave it unsaid.!! I may be incorrect but I have a feeling that one of our posters here actually owns one of the runners that was due to run today. I wonder if he can post and let us know what the real story is.

There is a precedent set with Leon Erasmus' son I dont recall his name.

Good luck to the NHA in doing the right thing now we have a black trainer involved - the race card will be thrown and its the last thing that they need.

just wondering - is this not the same trainer who left his horses without food or water and went off to the July? As I recall trainers at the Vaal stepped in to feed and water those animals... Race has no bearing in this case - If you have completed the trainer's exam(like all other trainers of all races and sexes) you know animal welfare is the basis of horse training - Why waste 7 years of your life becoming a trainer and then throwing it all away because you cannot do the basics?
