......painted himself into a corner and now he will be playing for time....he is hopeful of enough support at the ANC congress to stay no1..... and then only face possibility of impeachment early next year....however if he walks now we are in a world of sh!t .... as the bigger thieves and their supporters will run riot in the feed frenzy....will make last years riots/looting look like a tea party......

Squirrel addressing the nation tonight - possibly to re-affirm his innocence, or he came to his dumb-ass senses.

Squirrel's spokesman has just announced that he has call off the family meeting tonight. What a decisive leader we have!

Just look north at what happened to a great country. South is going the same way, might take a little bit longer cause of the size of the country but when it comes it will be a tsunami downfall.

In Japan or South Korea, Cyril the Squirrel would have resigned in shame and in China he would have been executed but TIA so no shame, little ethics and hang onto by one's finger-nails till the bitter end no matter the larger consequences...
Cyril the Squirrel could have come clean early and placed the facts in the public domain but it would have brought the difficult questions he didn't want to (not couldn't) answer eg. how did the money come into the country, why has the objects (supposedly) sold still not been collected, why is there so little information about the supposed purchaser, why was currency not declared at first possible opportunity, has the sale been declared in tax returns, etc
Much like the lack of transparency he and other negotiators show with respect to the deals they made with big business at Codesa, his lack of transparency now has shredded any crediblity he may have had...many misplaced their faith and yet there are still many who are all in in defending the indefensible...that's speaks to their morality...sad...

The faith was misplaced. We in KZN experienced a resurrection of 1949 which was during colonial rule, something that was never expected to happen again.
And Mr P(phala), his appointed Min of Defence, the name escapes me due to the many medals of victory earned in battle and the twat in a hat all failed to stem the tide of anarchy, looting and destruction that was allowed to unfold in our backyard.
Adios, a good Doctor is waiting in the wings to cure the ills of the land.

I agree that he is in the dwang - maybe many expected too much - after all he was part of the Zuma government - however I think many thought (and I still hold that opinion) that he would be 'better' than the alternative.
But there are many sides to each story; I think an article in the Daily Maverick refers to the fact that the honorable justice (that worked on this report), was once given leeway by Zuma to lengthen his stay on the bench - so who knows what happened there
- also the general belief that his accuser (Fraser) has many 'doubtful' transactions to answer to, but nobody has the balls to question him
The ultimate question imo is not whether the President is guilty of 'wrong-doing' (because there seems to be many fingers pointing at him) - but as Dave mentions - what happens if he does fall on his sword, or if the ANC decides that he needs to go (like what happened when Zuma succeeded Mbeki) - will 'we' be better off if he goes, or not (at least until the next general election, where hopefully the ANC majority will be nullified) - and I can't see how 'we' would be better off ?

@Frodo..."we" as in the common citizenry will not be better off no matter who heads the ANC...like most leftist organisations, they have collective / herd mentality so personal accountability, that is much needed from any leader/s, is absent...
Worldwide, we are left with choosing the least worst rather than the best and even after one votes one's preference, they do their own thing in furtherance of their personal interests rather than the public good...so, rather bleak...
