Day 153 and getting used to mountain life but this is the last day.

Still having no luck with horses, look forward to Gold Cup, we have a compo running.
Steck still finding a few nice priced winners on the UK threads.

My last challenge before I left the mountain was to check the pool.

As far as green it’s like watching Celtic play Hibs, as far as the last time the sand was changed? I am sure Lawrence of Arabia won an Oscar.

It’s WIP and hopefully my friends (and us) will be swimming soon.

A quick song before I feed the Guniea Foul.

First time I heard this was by Cream ( Baker, Bruce and Clapton).
This version has a bit Stevie Ray Vaughan for your pleasure.

For all us punters

It’s day 154 of “lockdown “

As far as fears and thoughts go, a bit reflection on the 154 days and our life under Covid 19.

I was speaking to a Phumelela employee who has been “furloughed “ we used to discuss inside the final furlong, now we have a new word that was very seldom used.

We have an entire new vocabulary these days.

Blursday is my favourite as I often forget what day it is.
Then we have social distance, self isolation, key workers, flatten curve, epidemic vs pandemic, quarantine, covidiot (ignores health warnings), covideo (zoom), WFH ( work from home) , quaranteams ( new way of video conferencing), virtual happy hour, one for the cockneys Miley Cyrus (virus).

Racing: we have more drama with Betfred vs MOD still on going, but spare a thought for many employees in limbo when the big guns talk Monopoly money via the BR.

Day 155 and another weekend looming.

As far as racing we have the World Sports Betting Gold Cup to look forward to on Saturday and must have a go at Pick 6, just have to select the correct bankers.
Erik the Red, Tempting Fate, Its my Turn or Marchingtogether, Do it Again or Rainbow Bridge are all possibilities?

To get something in the kitty before hand the options today might be Fairview where weather could be a concern.

UK and Ireland today.
Fontwell
Goodwood: Sibaaq, Quickstep Lady and Lone Eagle are best
Newmarket
Curragh: ALBIGNA the beaten gns fav worth another chance.

As far as the Phumelela saga is concerned, what can one say?
Plenty more questions than answers and let’s see what happens over the next week.
I did stick this video on site when Betfred first came into the picture but it’s worth another view, as we need a bit of a laugh these days.
This is the animated version but hope Fred and Charles can reach a conclusion.

Day 156

I am “in a rush”.

Going back to the mountain today for pool duty, missing the porcupines.
Although we have a few spikey characters in racing.

A bit rain in Pretoria, summer on the way.

MOD VS BETFRED, continues to boggle the mind.

It’s WSB Gold Cup day and focus is on the Pick 6. Zero is studying hard.

Just a good song for today, have a good weekend and keep safe

Day 157

Still up mountain, no intruders last night but plenty morning activity.
Dogs have a Dassie? Guinea fowl all been fed and the odd mongoose.

Well done if you caught the pick 6.

September first and we should have some indication on the way forward for racing.
It’s certainly become a bit of a war, I remember the last time the MODs were in a bit of a war and if not mistaken it was rather civilized. No blades or knives, only boots and belts, so let’s keep it clean.

Ha ha and like the last time, they are tearing lumps.

PS maybe punters and owners should form their own company and rent our asses back to who ever wins ( yes I meant erses)

Morning all from a rather cold Pretoria on day 158 of the Lockdown.

Tomorrow should be “D Day” for the Business Rescue team, or will there be another extension?
Will try and join zoom for an update where SA racing is heading.

On the Ante Post market:
It’s the Kentucky Derby on Sept 5th and “Tis The Law” should be hard to beat at evens.
Love continues to shorten for the ARC 2/1 tops and Enable 3/1, it’s now 10/1 bar.
Zietsman appears bullish about his runners today and there are big prices on offer.
In the UK George Scott has a runner at Ripon, Charlie Fellows at evens looks the best bet.

We can only hope the BR team have an early night tonight and no excuses on the way home, we don’t need another extension.
