Re: RESUMPTION OF RACING – UPDATE
5 years 3 weeks ago - 5 years 3 weeks agoI'm not sure if that true - Under agriculture you would not exclusively allow your cows or sheep out between 6-9am - The 6-9am was for exercise of the whole SA population not professional services - so a farmer could tend to his animals at any time and milk cows etc - I cannot understand how we hear Racing is a Sport and great entertainment but now the Jockeys are not "sportsmen" and the Trainers are not "trainers" but rather some sort of Farmers - And let's not forget the one thing that no farmer needs to survive is a Gambling Public- And let's not forget that the local Racing paper is called SPORTING POST not FARMERS WEEKLY.Sammy Silver wrote:oscar wrote: Just wonder when the Racing Association will put out a release as to whether racing in Jhb will start this week., with attached permission not obviously like last one pointing out “non contact sport allowed” as we have now been taught that horseracing falls under agriculture, and that begs the question why did they stop racing during Level 4?
Lou maybe you could answer that mate?
Under level-4 horses could only be brought out between 6-9 am

Permission to do this for the purpose of Racing under lockdown in level 3 was obtained earlier this week.
We have been pre approved to race under lockdown . Methinks that you will see me on TT, from Greyville on Monday !
Giving the winners interview I trust?

Louis sometimes taking chances work, but unfortunately horseracing is a Sport, someone will make a representation to the Sports Minister today I’m sure to ask for permission for Jockeys to return to their earning jobs, let’s wait and see how that goes. Maybe a very small part of horse race breeding falls into DAFF but certainly not the Racing part
Maybe the best thing is to get it in writing from the department of preference that Racing can take place because it would be insane to find Jockeys Trainers etc being arrested or fined for flouting regulations -

not the ministry of Agriculture? I'm really really confused
and if the Jocks are actually under Agriculture and some of them received payment out of the fund did they defraud government ? If they were rejected for not being part of Sports and Arts then more strength to the Agriculture argument

Aah great to see someone else on the same page as me per racing at the Vaal instead of Big T.

For me, in all those documents above we need to see the word “horseracing” loud and bold. In its absence speculation abounds.

Mac at R36k a win less 20% for trainer and jock and 4 reserve runners per race, is it worth it. No investigation into how this happened, it really is time to possibly cut losses and walk away.
PS jocks don't forget you get around R 900.00 a win, less than 40 Pounds
I see collapse coming

Why is racing the first professional sport in Britain to return behind closed doors?
Monday marks the first day sports are allowed to take place behind closed doors in Britain, and racing is first out of the gate. While other sports such as football require a period of fitness work before being able to resume, racehorses have been kept in training throughout lockdown with stable staff observing social distancing at yards across Britain. Britain's cross-industry Resumption of Racing Group has worked over recent weeks to plan for the sport's return, having regular contact with Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport officials and Public Health England.
What are the protocols to keep participants safe and prevent the spread of the virus?
Professionals attending the races have to complete an online coronavirus education module, a health questionnaire every seven days and undergo temperature screening on arrival at the track. Social distancing will be observed wherever possible with racecourses making many adjustments to minimise risk, including one-way routes around the stable yard and weighing-room partitioning. Potential coronavirus flare-ups in the racing community are set to be identified through a surveillance system launched by the BHA.

Just been told that there was no testing of temperatures at the main entrance to the Vaal racecourse today
And ps no details of people entering were taken.
Let’s hope no one turns up to check the strict Covid 19 rules are being adhered to

For about a week checkers and pick n pay not even testing your temperature, and found sometimes no one at door of checkers.
This seems to be a problem whereas organizations were begging to open and as soon as they got the go ahead they forget, even a big hardware store not testing.Soon you will see jockeys riding in two places, after a week there will be more people on course.
