With the favourite scratched, thin Linebacker is a runner despite the draw. Last two runs, drawn relatively wide and still put in decent efforts. No disrespect, but Grant must be a plus.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

What happened to tonight’s Panel Discussion?

Had a few queries asking what happened? Sure there was a new production team running the show?

Not an easy card but quality fields.

My day is built around the Ambiorix-Clouds Unfold double.

Rascallion is my derby horse.

Break a leg.

AMBIORIX win and exacta with Danilo/Cosmic
LIVE MY LIFE win exacta with Winter/Super
Although BAYBERRY and STRADTHON should fight it out …Troop the colour can surprise …watch
Tough 4th…shortlist for me will be Sing out Loud , Love happens and Doublemint
Clouds Unfold banker in everything…exacta with La Quinta looks appealing
I am in the camp of Rio Querari…will swing with Cartel Captain
With the scratching of the superstar, any of Russian Rock, Rascallion, Gatekeeper or Linebacker will win this
8th looks like a field race for the exotics…shortlist though Take Control/Homely Girl/Kaylene
Even tougher 9th …Queen Niyabah,Paper trail,Picture the Moment and Gallic Girl for me

Enjoy and be safe

Just watched the show - enjoyed the analysis; my thoughts

First 2 races only 6 runners - still not easy imo as the juveniles improve at different rates, but my two would be Barzalona and WInter Mosaic

In the 3rd I think Dharma is unlikely, but any of the other 4 could win

Sing Out Loud in the 4th, and Clouds Unfold the obvious one in the 5th - however I am concerned that she has had a busy couple of months - so runners like Pretty Young Thing and especially the 3yr old La Quinta have to be considered

The Snaith pair should dominate the Sprint - wind may be a factor - not sure if runners drawn on the outside will have less of a disadvantage than usual

Slight preference for The Gatekeeper in the Derby, but Russian Rock and Rascallion obvious claims as well; Linebacker I have doubts about the trip and the others are held imo

The last 2 races are minefields - maybe have a look at how they run down the straight in the 6th; if the going is better down the inside, I do think Homely Girl and Royal Oasis have chances in the 8th

Enjoy B)

In the 5th I am hearing that Caya Coco is a real threat to the favourite, I have taken 28, 25 & 20/1 & the fixed places.

Good day all some great day racing ahead

The cape derby winner normally if u look at history always performs well in the features going forward example in Kzn last year Golden Ducat won with a merit rating of 89 with the boom horse pulled out this could be more open then we think Firealley merit rating 92 in my opinion could be dark horse this horse ran same rating last 5 runs ran second to Kommetdieding in MR96 thereafter Kommet wins the Politician stakes so form worked out well.
Rascallion deserves a big one but cant understand how
Legitimate has gone up 20 points in merit rating running second in politician stakes and Rascallion merit ratin same running third?fancy fire alley to be thereabouts

Rest of card fancy hudoo magic maledimo bold respect last race pretty Betty

Good luck all

Lovely day in CT, but expect a brisk headwind this afternoon. Course still hard and fast.
Race 1 Ambiorix impressed beating a decent field on debut. Should come on from that run and will surely enjoy the extra 200m. Barzalona and Danilo Danilovitch are the two dangers. Selection 1,2,4,5
Race 2 Winter Mosaic two good runs and is the one to beat. Gimme Dat and Live My Life are lively dangers as they both should improve significantly with one run under the belt. Selection 6,3,1,2
Race 3 Very tricky little race as not clear what the pace will be. Strathdon is the class horse but must carry a big weight and has only had one sprint back after a year's break. Bayberry is a consistent stayer. Dharma ran to his rating last time and may be ready to win again. The other two are under sufferance and should be held. selection 3,2,1,4
Race 4 Doublemint is well in at the weights and a good run last time, and is my choice despite Fourie going with stablemate. African Night Sky has run a couple of promising races since returning from his long injury enforced break, and he is a big threat. Capoeira has been inconsistent this season, but is capable on best form. There are a few others with chances but they need to improve a few lengths. selection 2,4,9,3
race 5 Clouds Unfold should win this. The up and coming 3 year olds are the dangers. Icon Princess could upset if she gets away from them early. Pretty Young Thing is capable at best, but Marcus has chosen Capitana.
selection 1, 15, 10, 12
Race 6 Kasimir below best last time but Fourie back in the saddle and best trip, is the one to beat. Rio Querari good recent form and will challenge. Russet Air, Hello Winter Hello and Bold Respect have chances.
selection 2,3,8, 1
race 7 This is a strong field despite the sad withdrawal of the early favourite. Russian Rock surprised in the Guineas, but that was a great run stepping up to the mile for the first time. I see no reason why he should not get the trip, and still has huge scope for improvement. I am surprised that he is not favourite, and he is now my first choice. Linebacker has been the most consistent, but I'm not sure he will get the trip. Rascallion will relish the trip and has been very consistent and has had a bit of bad luck in a couple of the big ones. The Gatekeeper ran a good race in the Guineas from a bad draw, and should get the trip, so must be respected but is too short priced in my view. Our boy Crimson King ran a great race in the gr1 in Durban, but his summer season was ruined by the virus in the yard. He is over that, but there was no time for a prep run prior to the Politician, and he was disappointing, although clearly more in need of the run than we thought. He has obviously come on from that, and if at his best will be much closer to the top 4. Hoedspruit has a few lengths to find but has an outside place chance.
selection 2,4,5,3,7,6
Race 8 very difficult as not much exposed form. Selection 15,12,13, 2,10,5
race 9 The WR have drawn the stronger horses, but are up against the top jocks. Our filly Pretty Betty ran a great race last time when making all from a wide draw, and she has a shout today. Queen Niyabah and Paper Trail look the best if the WR can do the job, while Galiek Yo Baby, Wordsworrth and Picture the Moment look the best of the jockey rides. selection 14,12,8, 4,2,1
