Doping gang around?

Clanners,

I'm just wondering if maybe there is a doping gang in existence. The way our horses are so inconsistent it's possible someone is benefitting from it all.

Is it not time for the authorities to investigate all these below average runs happening all over the country?

Surely SA racing has turned into a yo-yo.

What do you guys think? Do we perhaps have a Mr Roper somewhere?

We would know, our horses are tested, winners and selected others etc

Few reasons imo for inconsistent runs

JHB - Horses missed quite a lot of work recently
KZN - Off season so i would imagine horses are being vaccinated/gelded etc

Inconsistent performance is a huge problem and if nothing obvious is detected then imvho these racehorses are having their preparations hindered by something....... and it's not always an inclement weather issue......

Something is not right.....

@Bob some valid points there, however, do they test the favourites or those disappointing performers that finish nowhere?

Even during the hot Cape Summer season some top guns had very questionable performances.

@Duke it definitely is a problem, somebody could be killing it.....

It all sounds very fishy to me....the Roper realized there is more money in making them lose.

@keniza - what’s your basis for “our horses are so inconsistent”?

look you have to remember horses are not machines you start up and they go. they are athletes and unlike human sportsmen they are unable to communicate issues with their coaches. training horses is an inexact science based mostly on trial and error and impossible to get right all the time. i keep on reminding people of the words of a bloody useless riding instructor i had as a youth , the only thing he actually knew about horses. there are two things guaranteed to make a fool of a man. women and horses. end of.

Mac, I keep speed figures of SA horses and I see when consistent horses suddenly produce below par figures (they don't have to win but the figures should be close to consistent). I unfortunately I do not have the stats to prove my point.

For an examples look at the De Kock stable, just see how many disappointing runs they've had recently.

What happened to Celtic Sea, Queen Supreme, Summer Pudding? those are just the big guns that pop into mind right now but there are many ordinary horses running that like yo-yoz on a daily basis.

I don't know if anyone can back anything with confidence based on past performances.

By the way I see Kommetdieding is out of the Derby, anything is possible.

If I was in charge I would commission a study or open an inquiry to look at all the disappointing runs of the last 2yrs, maybe something can come out.

I wonder what is Anton Marcus take on this, he probably gets shocked every week when the good thing he jumped on just runs a flat race for no reason.

It may or may not be the case but just burying heads in the sand and making excuses does not make the problem go away.

.....motive....who would benefit from stitching the so called good things days before a race.....these days bookies have hardly any exposure....they limit the f@ck out of any sensible punter.....yet on their books are the whales that fall into any sh!t priced in the red....if bookies were getting a hiding then just maybe....but these days too many fools and poor horses are around to make the bookies rake it in without breaking a sweat......
