How does this role work on race day?

It seems unlikely that this role is nothing more than a rubber stamp.

hope their is no stipend paid for this role.

does anyone know?

Sly currently as we know in Gauteng the new daily cases are just about vertical on the graph plus the actual no’s are already higher than both the first and second waves. Now I won’t go into the reasons as to why Prof Karin left the COVID management advisory team, because we don’t know why but I can say since he has left things are falling apart quickly generally. I know for a fact because that’s my industry that most hospitals up here are full or will be full in the next day or two and all electives have stopped and yet we still do not have any meaningful lockdown. Nothing has really changed since relaxed level one.

It seems the “management team” on COVID prevention has all but disappeared and it’s now seriously in each individuals hands as to how they regulate behaviour especially within companies. It is only a matter of time until it seriously starts affecting industries, and I don’t mean the viability or economics but rather the positives and the requirements for ICU beds within companies to put it bluntly. This is not written with hindsight, but rather with insight because we are in the health care business and now know exactly what to expect, my company and many other multinationals like it took serious steps a couple of weeks ago to heavily control manufacturing plus Dr visits by reps, regulatory etc in fact all elements to protect our employees.

The rules are reminded daily to all, and it’s time these rules are republished by the NHA before there is a spread inside the horse racing industry.

I said to someone earlier that this is the first time the NHRA didn`t announce a statement after a Cyril speech. Hope the SANTA thing has not got them playing with people`s lives

Every company must appoint/ nominate a COVID 19 compliance officer- usually not a separate role, but added to the role of an appropriate exec. Mr A Hyde is the officer fir NHRA, which makes sense as he is the Racing Control exec. Should not affect remuneration. He is accountable to ensure that the relevant protocols are implemented.
The recent change to protocols announced under level three have made little difference to race meetings- still only staff, trainers, jockeys and owners allowed. The restaurant venue limit is now 50.

I share Oscars concerns about wave 3. Vaccination roll out is taking far too long because government lack the logistics expertise and have been slow or reluctant to empower the private sector, which has the necessary skills to get on with the job.
Gauteng is a particular problem because their state hospitals are in a shambles, exacerbated by the fire at a major hospital. The question is - where is all the equipment that was bought by the solidarity fund to which we all contributed and from which to equip temporary “ field hospitals “ in all the provinces?

With respect to @PeterD's question, I would like to speculate that some of it is likely being used by cadres to buy bling while a portion will also be used to fund the forthcoming local elections ANC "campaigning"...aka paying for token meals and ANC items in return for votes...

Just like one can expect a portion of the PIC money (government pensioners' money) being "lent" (lol) to the BEE member of the SAA consortium to be "donated" to the ANC...and when SAA goes bust, again, do not expect the PIC "loan" to be repaid as it would have long since been spent on bling...

Just kidding...nobody will tell you...it's like having 2factor authentication enabled with Googles unrecognized device trying to access your account type of information not happening.
