Up On The Roof.

Good afternoon all and just a quick update before Humble Tune runs on Thursday, weather permitting.😎

Is it not heartbreaking for the trainers, owners and jockeys with the abandonment of yesterday’s races.
Nobody in racing wants this and it’s frustrating for the punter, operator and bookies.
However consider when you own a horse, you pay a trainer to look after it, get it fit to race.
They then have to find a suitable race, nominate, fingers crossed on a good draw, find a suitable jockey, transport to racetrack, owners excited, place the bet......etc.
Then without a run, stick the horse back in the float for the long trip home and start the process all over again.

We still sit with this horrendous situation that the ANC have caused in the country, daily news items beyond belief, with little hope for change. 😪

I have to highlight the Biznews articles on our Fears and Thoughts thread with the Rob Hersov interviews with Alec Hogg.
It is essential to listen to what Rob had to say and his thoughts on actual solutions are commendable.

He highlighted some key points.

I could not agree more and it gave me some hope if more businessmen took this approach, maybe we could see change?

Many, many years ago when I was the works director of a large electronic company, I worked under Rob’s father Basil, admittedly I was a few levels below when he was Anglovaal chairman.
I was delighted to hear that Basil is still alive and well done to your son, sir 👍
Basil was also a big racehorse owner, good bloodline.🏇🏻

The site has been flat recently with poor racing and little transparency as we just tick along.
We have had some shocking results and I have chosen “Up on the Roof “, the James Taylor version for my song this week, if you listen to the words, it’s just a place you feel like disappearing to when life gets too much to bear.
On that subject, I went to the attic with Mrs S the other day, filthy dirty and covered in cobwebs, but she is good with the grandkids.

So back to racing, more sad news that Ali Cohen is leaving us for a great opportunity overseas.
The ARC is on Sunday and we also have a good daily update thread on site with betting and fancies.
The bookies are proactive with up coming local races and the vibe is on the upswing.

Have come down from the roof to tell you that Humble Tune runs in race 3 at the Vaal tomorrow.
Candice always has the big lad looking great and he is very well.
It is not a strong field and we are one of the joint favs at around 5/2.
It should be the correct distance after our experiment over 2600 MT .
The only concern is the draw but we have booked Gavin to compensate for this one negative.

Good Punting and may you God be with you.

That last run by Humble Tune was very good - The winner won by 5 so actually very close to earning - Klink had him way too handy as he has a burst that could have been better utilised from behind - His penultimate was also a good run - I think go very close but I do respect Tarry mare with allowance but a trip to KZN last week might just be too much for her

Good morning all

I was on Google to check what racing colours did Basil Hersov have and this ABC article was part of the search

A blast from the past

Some things never change.......
