Alexander’s first runner

28th October 2021
The wait is finally over for Gary and Dean Alexander, who saddle up their first Australian runner at Morphettville on Saturday.
The South African brothers, who have produced more than 100 Group and Listed races back home are slowly building their South Australian team with Brazen Force set to make his local debut over the mile.
“It’s exciting,’’ Dean Alexander said.
“It’s nice to get going, we’ve got a lot to look forward to,’’ he said.
Brazen Force is well travelled.
He was originally with Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr stable where he won a Kilmore maiden before finding himself in Queensland with Kris Lees.
He finished fourth in a recent Morphettville trial and Alexander said the horse would appreciate getting out over further through his campaign.
“I think he’s a nice horse,’’ Alexander said.
“He’ll be more effective over more ground, but it looks a nice race to start him off in and I think he’s done enough to be competitive.
“The draws not so good, but the rest is up to Barend (Vorster), he’s the pilot,’’ he said.
Alexander said their search for suitable horses has been slowed by their inability to travel with border restrictions as they search for prospective horses, but were looking forward the next phase and eventual move to Murray Bridge.
“It’s been difficult coming in here during COVID with the travel restrictions,’’ Alexander said.
“We’ve got seven horses at the moment, but it’s exciting to get going and we can’t wait to get to the stables at Murray Bridge.
“I think it will be a game changer, there are some exciting times ahead,’’ he said.
